I consider myself a pretty safe driver. Not the safest out there, but I try to keep myself out of trouble. My MVR is clean, but I know it's partially just because of luck. I've been less disciplined lately and it almost put me in a situation today.

Few weeks ago I received a citation for running a red light. One of those times your fully loaded and think you can beat the red light ... and then realize you can't. I got caught and hired a traffic attorney to deal with it. Like I said, I've been less disciplined. Wasn't too worried about this one though since my MVR is clean.

Today though, I got a firm lesson. I was getting frustrated with traffic rolling through the hills in West Virginia. Took me about an hour break so I could calm myself down a little. I leave back out and immediately get thrown into a bunch of idiots again. I'm riding in the middle lane, car creeps by me in the left lane jumps in front of me, and immediately lets off the throttle slowing to probably 10mph under what he was passing me at. I start flashing my lights, and admittedly am riding on his tail. Left lane is truck restricted. After I realize the car won't move over, I decide to risk taking the left lane on a downhill to pass him. Little did I know there was an unmarked cruiser in the right lane watching this all go down. I get lighted up. He tells me he got me for speeding, following too closely, and using the left lane.

This would have been my second ticket in a month. I don't believe in a higher power, but something was looking out for me today. He grabbed my license and registration, and asked if he would find anything on my MVR. I told him I had a citation a few weeks ago. About half way to his cruiser he turns back around. Hands me my license and registration back and tells me to have a nice day and to drive safer, and then proceeds to haul butt down to the next exit ramp. I got super lucky.

So remember kids, only YOU can prevent a forest fire! Be safe!

You are happy you didn't get a ticket. You should be happy you didn't kill someone.

You drove like and idiot based on your description. People don't break check you unless you provoked them. They just happen to be dumber than you so you got away with it.

Check your ETA on the gps the second someone makes you mad....then check it again after you've calmed down. There wasn't much of a difference.

The message...calm down and enjoy the view.

That left lane can be a royal pain... I found that out on the 285 loop around Atlanta. That was a 265.00 ticket.

But to be honest, sometime I really hate having to be the professional and polite driver. I really wish sometimes I could have a cow scoop on the front and .50 cal machines guns mounted on the hood!

Doesn't sound like the car brake checked Woodys - just an everyday occurrence where cars get in front of you and then they zone (slow down ) out. One of those "got lucky days " for you .

I was on the Jersey pike today and trucks were passing in the HOV lane because the left lane was packed with trucks, some drivers just don't care. Must have been that Cross Bronx got em all worked up.

How dare you allow that car get in front of you then slow down. Everyone else here drives totally safe 100% of the time. You should turn in your license, and be shamed out of the country.
