Uber will kill the trucking industry and destroy truckers lives. Just look at what they did to the taxi cab industry and see how many New York taxi cab drivers have taken their own life because of Uber.

they will get the ahole shippers but they will have a hard time attracting decent drivers because with the taxi service its easy because every one has a car not that many have a truck . the cab works because they by passed the medalion and regulations so they have a big advantage with trucking they cant do that , the only thing that they can sell is cheapness the problem they will have is getting people to haul it

Are you misinforming everybody here because you hate UBER?

Uber drivers (cab service) are paid the same cheap rate per mile, aren't they? Comparing that to Uber brokering on the spot market is plainly misplaced and improper.

The shippers are the same as others; beer places, paper product shippers, food distributors... small shippers of all kinds, receivers are often Costco, Walmarts, Krogers, Albertsons...I'd say I can't see any difference...UBER always paid me detention: 50 or 60 per hour after two hours up to 250 (?) - standard but try to get even that from CHR or Coyote.
When I look at what they offer rate-wise, it is not different from others including CH Robinson, Landstar , Coyote, JB Hunt, TQL, Schneider, Swift, Choptank, Armstrong, EPES logistics, HUB Group, XPO ... list goes on.
With Uber, there is no calling and over the phone negotiation or bidding. If nobody clicks on a load, they will eventually raise the rate until someone does - they will eventually move all the loads they post. It takes a moment of luck to catch something good, so if you want to wait and watch their app all day you may grab something decent too

Uber and Convoy have one thing in common which makes them substantially different from other brokerages; it is difficult to communicate a problem to someone with authority there; going through a layer of people who merely answer the calls and cannot do much more than telling you that they will convey the message to their "escalation team".

I think, all the fresh MC# newcomers will benefit from UBER more than from CHR or Landstar agencies taking advantage of fresh MC#.

I actually recommend Uber for getting short - to medium range back-hauls to places like Chicago. Making a living off their load board exclusively is not something I could manage.
Living off a loadboard generally is not a good biz model anyway. Better to have dedicated brokers or customers and use the likes of UBER as the last resort.

I know! Just like all those scum bag "Horse-less Carriage Makers" in Detroit! They killed off the Stage Coach industry!

there's plenty of fresh MC numbers for them to use , no real knowledge of the industry, but either do the guys that haul for them. its a perfect fit cut rate haulers and cut rate companies what possibly could go wrong

Yep - all these business owners and their employees, out of work.

    A. J. Oliver & Co? Gone.
    Ackley and Morrison? Gone.
American Express? Forced to sell Credit Cards.
    Phineas Banning Stage Line? Gone.

The great Abbot Downing Company is now just part of Wells Fargo bank. They used to build the stage coaches for them, then those stupid combustion engine makers came in and ruined them to the point that Wells Fargo bought them in a hostile take over and now uses their name for their "Wealth Management" company.

Not to mention all of the draft horse breeders that were run out of business. So Sad.

Uber is the worst thing since they started using cars & trucks to move people and goods!

(Or - its how progress and capitalism works, perhaps?)
