Dyno is right the box should be in the centre of its travel for best road feel. It might not wear out faster but its not right. Any alignment shop that sends a truck out with a misaligned steering wheel as a matter of course is a mickey mouse operation imo

We took the steering wheel off on my truck to fix the city horn one time. We thought we put it back on straight but is now slightly off centered. If the steering wheel as ever been taken off, it could be as simple as that. If it hasn't I would recommend getting an alignment.

Are your tires wearing unevenly? Is the truck actually pulling to one side (when you’re going straight and let go of the wheel, does it start to turn)? As already mentioned, your alignment might be okay, your steering wheel might just not be mounted correctly.

In many parts of the US, there are crowned roads, higher in the center than on the edges. This makes vehicles tend right unless held straight.
This is a good thing. Crowned roads shed water and help prevent massive ice buildup when ice on roads thaws and freezes.
If you ignore the visual position of the wheel, does the truck steer correctly?Phumac Thanks this. -
Went and got an MD alignment and it fixed that problem with the steering wheel, but I had vibration coming from the steering wheel and that has not gone away like I would have thought. Any ideas where to start with that? Steer tires are fairly knee with no bald spots on them. Maybe front shocks?

After a alignment shop put a new 1 piece tie rod end on and alignment the steering wheel was 1/4 turn off, where I previously held my hands on the wheel at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock, those positions were at 12 and 6 o'clock. I told the shop the steering wheel needs to be right. They said they were not allowed to take any steering wheel off.
I brought to my local shop and they took the steering wheel off and put in on the correct way. I drove it a couple day's in the off position, and it was weird to drive that way, felt very unatural.Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -

First thing to do is fix the steering pull before centering the steering wheel.
Fix the pull and steering will be in a different positionFarmerbob1 Thanks this.
