You guys are talking about petes having a Dana E series axle. Found more in petes, we specthem in tow trucks for turning radius. It could be had in anything but it was a option that seemed more standard on petes up into the 2000's. After that I don't know. Yes they cut harder than any axle I know of. But any other can be fine tuned with the stops and gain some more.
