It's in repairing the trucks.

Find a expierenced diesel mechanic who's
Been doing it 15 years and is tired of
Working for the man.

Then Buy a used service truck,
Deck it out with all the tools,
And put him to work with it.

Don't ask me how you pay him,
I don't know that part.
But I do know that every time
That truck moves your both getting
Paid and paid good.

There's is no cheap freight or deadhead miles.
It's all added in before he leaves the house.
And there's always trucks locally that
Need to be fixed to fill in the gaps.

 

Happy you’ve come to this conclusion. Right now instead of getting into trucking you’re better off A) spending the money on lottery tickets, or B) throwing it into the wind.

 

If you want to start a trucking related business that will not require you to chase trucks and drivers, I suggest looking at your local market and checking to see if there is a hole in the market that serves trucker needs.

There are many places in the US where there are needs for services to support trucks.

* Washouts and truck washes.

* Long term parking.

* Short term parking.

* Drop lot.

* Scale.

* Tire services.

* Mechanical services.

* Fast food with truck access.

* Fuel and convenience store services.

* Some combination of the above.

Now, many of these businesses require significant investment. Land, for example, is not always cheap, and you need a lot of it for even a small parking area.

However, wash and/or washout services can be started with a fairly small piece of land, and little equipment cost.

Find out where truck services are located in your area. Go do research. See how busy places are. Talk to other local drivers who service other segments of the industry that are unfamiliar to you.

If you live in an area with little or nothing in the way of public truck services, you might have opportunities for business that are more stable than trying to run a truck and driver.

In fact, if you get a good deal on land, with the right zoning and regulations, you might find yourself in a position to build a nice, profitable business that ALSO allows you to build up to the point where you can use that business as a starting point for a small trucking company.

I'll tell you right now that 42 inch coffin sleepers require a young person, male or female. You cannot see me in such a small space, unless it is strictly local home every night sort of thing stuck somewhere because the state says ban don't drive in this storm for example. Ive been in spaces smaller than that decades ago.

You are going to need people to run the outfit 24/7 You cannot stay up 24/7 to do it yourself. If something unraveled in the night if you had good people it will be taken care of and you get to fill out a checkbook cleaning up the mess with money. Example tow bill 1000 dollars, damaged cargo who knows? etc.

This Nation is hitting the wall economically. And will be off for a few years, you can see it coming as it has done a number of times in my lifetime and for those who have lived longer than I. I remember when houses and cars were 19 and 15% interest respectively going into the 80's no one in their right minds would execute a purchase of that nature in those terms. The payments would crush them. And the 100 dollar bill bought a pallet of candy back then compared to a few cases today due to inflation.

Good luck to you, but if you got a golden goose making you wealthy slowly and surely stick with it.
