After 15yrs I had my fill of beverage and went on extraboard with a LTL company. My body no longer aches from countless hours in family dollars and dollar generals. If you don’t mind handling 350-600+ cases a day go for it. If you took a job as a full service driver filling vending machines that’s not too bad but not nearly the money the guys delivery large and small stores make.

driver came into the Stop & Shop (they own Giant in other parts of the country) and the driver was off loading pallet after pallet and stacking it for the super bowl promotion....

The coca cola in florida has trash equipment; they give the bulk guys the 2010ish cascadias and the city trucks need to be put down - they're driving around in sun faded sterlings in my neck of the woods.
The non-bulk truck guys work four 12 hour days in my neck of the woods. -
that may of been a supervisor or manager. Generally, driver don't do grocery stores except for a few distributors that may require a bulk guy, which typically touch no cases to work there first or last stop.

We dropped all our pallets and a merchandiser would work that product. There wasn’t any time to get bogged down in a Walmart working pallets. Plenty of bullwork to do in c-stores and dollar stores. It was a good gig when I was young and the money was good but once you get some age on you it’s time to find something not nearly as rough on your body.

Is loading/unloading a bay trailer easier? I've seen mostly freightliner m2 single axle tractors... How much is the pay per week

We just hired a guy from coke not long ago and he said he made right at 16ish a hour.

Do you mean a side loader?. Much harder work IMO than a pup trailer with a lift gate.
Both Coke and Pepsi have moved to a rapid delivery systems on small 2ft wide pallets out of a box truck. Some independent bottlers might still utilize sideloaders but the RD system is much more efficient. I worked for a unionized facility and we were paid by the case for delivery. Utility work was $22hr and hauling doubles was $80 trip pay plus overtime if you did more than two trips a night.Last edited: Mar 24, 2019
