Talked to these guys out of their Allentown PA terminal. The gig sounds good. Company paid insurance the first year with a 2500 deductible but the pay average they said was 60k. That sounds low for an ltl carrier. Was wondering if anyone can shed some insight if that number is accurate?

Top pay at some terminals will be over 30$/hr this year so you could gross into the 60k range just working 40hrs. It all depends on the terminal. Some are busier than others, some have better/longer line runs than others. Some terminals in the company don’t pay overtime (I can’t remember if it’s OT after a certain number of hours worked or no OT at all). Some drivers with longer line runs plus dock work can get into the $80k-$90k range
You should ask what the pay scale is at that terminal and if OT is after 8hrs/day and 40hrs/week or not until after 50hrs a week or not at all.
That would give you a little better idea of what to expect.Nathanos Thanks this. -
Every barn is different. Our company is also realigning and closing some terminals. You need to ask if your on the flex board right away, or if there are bids open.

How does any company not pay overtime? It is federal law after 48 and state law after 40 in alot of places. Do they use some kind of job classification BS to get around it?
-
Likely use of the FLSA exemption combined with people willing to work for them.
-
Doesn't that only apply to management positions? Either way, keep racing to the bottom, boys. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies

Glad I got that comma in there. Could have been awkward

They either use the exemption or the law from the 1930s created by farmers and the railroad.
The exemption law applies only if you make more than 47k. So to be far you're a moderately paid individual.bobby87 Thanks this. -
truckers (trucking) is specifically excluded from overtime law.
Which is why it varies company by company, they don't have to pay it, so they only do to be competitive if they have to.upnorthwpg Thanks this. -
It goes region to region. In the south there is no ot. All the ltl’s seem to do that. In the north we get ot.
