Is it just me or is there some drivers here that think they own this place? Had a guy acting like a bigshot to me and another gentleman over something that didn't even pertain to him. And that's one of the reasons I don't associate with a lot of people.
Klleetrucking, I glide 47 and spyder7723 Thank this. -
From manufacturer. The upper plate is about 8 ft square and although it is flat on the bottom it has steel crossmember and supports that were all rusted, quite badly. I've had my eye on it for some time now and it is just starting to warp the bottom plate, a bad sign of impending failure. The rear portion is open so you can see a lot of the steel, and it looked pretty bad. Anytime you have aluminum and steel together the steel is likely to corrode more quickly then on an all steel trailer.popcorn169 Thanks this.

never had to drop a trailer for inspection. The plate was starting to warp and the rear of the assembly is open so you can see how badly it has rusted. It was beyond tolerances.JonJon78 Thanks this.

I wish that was the cost. Upper plate has to be made to order, 15 to 20 days, and the 'kit' with all the replacement hardware items, all new bolts, etc, is $2750 not including shipping. Estimate 12-15 hours labor for replacement so that's pushing a bit past the $4K mark.

Who is going to put it on for you? I hope it is someone you can trust not to rape your wallet. -
I guaranty you any good fabricator can make that plate. It's not like it's a unique material that only the manufacturer has access to.
Greatdane gave me the same bs story when i called them. 3 weeks to get the plate made and shipped plus 15 hours to remove the old one and put it in. Think the quote was some stupid number like 4500 or maybe even 5500.
Yours is bolted in making it 10 times simpler. Still gotta weld the new pin and brackets to the plate but then its just a matter of unbolting the old and bolting the new on.
I get that not everyone is comfortable at tackling a big job like this, but don't buy into the bs that its some special unique thing either. Any good fab shop can make that plate for you. Its just a flat piece of steel with a pin and supporting brackets welded in it. Heck i knew three different machine shops just in my local area that could make it. -
You must of swung by the yard.I glide 47 and popcorn169 Thank this.

Yeah I did.

It seems that when I have to be in here someone has to have something to prove. That is why I don't socialize much.
