All of the above advice is great. Trucking can be stressful for most, especially that first year. Keep your cool and remember you are the captain of your ship. After a year or two if you have kept a clean record your name will mean something to some good companies looking to hire safe, responsible drivers..
If the equipment is unsafe; dont operate it.
If the roads are treacherous and you dont feel comfortable operating your truck on them; park it. There is no shame in keeping yourself and others safe.
Don't let your dispatcher or load planners stress you out by pushing you to a breaking point; they will try. Run hard and be safe and the load will get there when it gets there...
Try to plan ahead on your routes; where you will begin and shut down each day. This will help keep you from logbook violations, or having to shut down in unsafe places...
Use a good trucking GPS in coordination with Google Maps, and the Rand Mcnally's Trucker Atlas. Call ahead if you are uncertain of the best routes to customers inside of towns.
Last but not least, dont be afraid to lean on other more experienced drivers when you need advice or just someone to vent to. This forum is awesome and you will find most drivers here are supportive because at some point they've been where you are.

Good luck Driver. Continue to PERSEVERE...
He failed in business in '31. He was defeated for state legislator in '32. He tried another business in '33. It failed. His fiancee died in '35. He had a nervous breakdown in '36. In '43 he ran for congress and was defeated. He tried again in '48 and was defeated again. He tried running for the Senate in '55. He lost. The next year he ran for Vice President and lost. In '59 he ran for the Senate again and was defeated. In 1860, the man who signed his name A. Lincoln, was elected the 16th President of the United States.
"The difference between history's boldest accomplishments and its most staggering failures is often, simply, the diligent will to persevere."

It's the ones that sneak over the border and use fake ID to get jobs at shady carriers that cause the most problems. -
