Last company I worked for I parted on bad terms (east Indian run). Was forced to run over hours alot and finally had enough, told them I wasn't going to do it anymore and the boss told me to empty the truck and go home. Long story short I got into a huge fight with the ex boss and never talked to him again, it should of been the end of it. I basically forgot about that whole deal.
Fast forward to today where I was parked at a gas station/truck stop. My friend works the station and allows me to park my truck there during my resets (bobtail). Saw my old boss fueling his diesel truck and he happened to see me there. Seen him go inside and leave about 10 minutes later. 2 minutes later my friend comes out and tells me that the guy gave him $100 to tell him to tell me that I can't park my truck there anymore. He told me to leave just for a couple hours and move it back, so I did.
Fast forward 4 hours I go back to my truck and I see that same ex boss parked near my truck, he sees me and leaves as I'm pulling in. Not too sure what he was trying to do. He's also been giving bad references to employers that I've tried applying to.
I'm not too sure what to do about this guy, he's clearly up to no good, I can't really go to the police because he hasn't done anything illegal.
Just frustrated is all, wondering what would you guys do if you were in my situation.

Unfortunately, defamatory references seem to be industry-standard in trucking. Most trucking bosses are idiots who push drivers to the brink so most drivers quit on very non-amicable terms, usually during a major blowout where the driver just can't take it any more and they tell the boss exactly what they really think about his terrible behaviour. There's very high turnover in trucking so it's practically impossible to avoid the bad reference thing if you are a truck driver.
My advice would be to avoid trucking like the plague. It's a cesspool of low, low standards, lawlessness, bad references, bullying and harassment. For those of you that have made the awful career error of becoming a truck driver I urge you to fight back against bad truck company bosses and the general lawlessness in trucking. You can read up on defamation law on the internet and represent yourself in court, without the cost of a lawyer (what truck driver can afford a lawyer?).
You can also leave that employer off your résumé and say you were doing something else at the time. For instance, you could say you were doing something more reputable than trucking like being in prison or getting hooked on fentanyl and prostituting yourself on a street corner or anything other than trucking. -
Fentanyal will just kill you outright. You wont have time to be hooked.
It's not that enjoyable either. Unless it is being delivered by IV in very specific needful situations which can bring out bigger medical emergencies.
As far as the leaving off employer you will discover at some point over time other employers can discover that you worked for this one.
I got one employer thats really bad but the passage of time and American law requiring a cleaning of the DAC after 10 years renders that blacklist irrelevant. Ancient history.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this. -

You are absolutely right on the part where bosses work their drivers to a certain point until they can't handle it.
I've been trying to make trucking work since I was 19 (22 now), starting to think about getting into the trades or something now. Everywhere I go it's almost the same BS. Gonna leave that employer off my resume from now on.
Think I'll just quit trucking for a bit and go to trades school for a couple years while I don't have kids, mortgage, a house etc.Phantom Trucker and x1Heavy Thank this. -
depending on where you are that can qualify as STALKING, I worked for an IGNORANT PRICK like that
as well, for over 8 years , thinks he's the only game in town, I also have friends from there he did that kind of stuff to as well, besides me. Please leave future comments if you make any headway towards a remedy
for the rest of us , and yes it is a very common thingCanadianhauler21 and x1Heavy Thank this. -

Our money is made of plastic now... can't rip it...:/
Should of taken the $100. Then told you to leave. But when you don't leave. Then he just shrug his shoulders. "Meh, I told him." Then both of you go out for beers later with that money.

I totally support the not very good friend.
That 100 should have been ripped and the ex told off.
