Friend of mine did 2 years hard labor in a Navy Brig, then kicked out. Went right to work with Mercury and happy as a pig in a mud puddle. Might not be the same Mercury you're familiar with though. It was pulling dry vans.Last edited: Apr 17, 2019

Get your own authority. Start a company.

Just get with some company that will hire you you already have experience sure it’s not recent but trucking is like riding a bike so get your feet a little wet for a year then go to landstar Bennett or admiral merchant and be a real trucker flatbed more money less bs with shippers and receivers daytime driving. You’ll also look a lot cooler which other door slamming boys won’t like but that’s just the price you pay for being a cool person and not some hater. I’m sure if you have money for a down payment you could get somewhere even now but I would wait for recent experience and a great company not ####ing western express like Chinatown said no offense lol they suck I talked to one of their drivers. I’d say Melton maybe? Maverick? Some starter flatbed company you just gotta look around. Whatever you do do NOT!!!! Do a lease perchase scam!! Just don’t! Trust me it’s not worth it unless your making 2 dollars a mile at least lots of them only pay. A dollar or 1.50 etc. it sucks come tax season. Unless you get % pay but then it depends on freight and the kind they haul that’s why I recommend flatbed it pays better than dry van usually. If you must tho Schneider seems to be okay from what I’ve heard of you do a lease purchase deal go to them and they will most likely hire youJokerSunnySandpile Thanks this.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured I’d have to spend a little time with a company before buying my truck. My wife is a little relieved that I’m not just dumping 70k for a truck to just sit in the yard. I think it would look good next to her rose bushes lol

Heard great wide was good they say no lease purchase trucks... yet they give you contacts for lease purchase? WTF? Overnight stickers and tags? They must be hurting lol

I never got to know the owners. Terminal was located in Georgia but I lived here in Florida. Hardly ever made it to the terminal.

I believe the Owens family sold that business. the new owner operated it as TW Owens for a while. Then an LTL company bought it. I'm having a memory lapse and can't remember who it was.

That's better than dragging out the hiring process for weeks. Don't know how it works now, but when I went through orientation the truck loan is in the drivers name, not the company. Maybe that's changed. I didn't follow through because deep down I never wanted to own a truck and wanted to try tankers somewhere.
