Driver shortage or special breed?!?!

    This is just my opinion there is no shortage of drivers there is a shortage of qualified drivers that knows what they're doing just look around lookingall the pile-ups all the crashes going over over the walls crashing on the ramps it's all self-explanatory if you can read

    i never in my career wanted to haul vehicles.

    the amount of labor, getting dirty, sweaty was never for me, on top of all that responsibility, and also hoping the equipment did not fail, and causing a vehicle to fall off (i had seen a few pics, over the years)

    i stuck to vans. oh yes, i got a "bit dirty" at times, maybe really dirty too. but i was always working inside, not in the weather. the only times i'd be out in the weather was to open up the barn doors, walk inside the building, and maybe fueling, and pre/post trip inspections.

    i made a darned good living, working vans.

    no "amazing pay and benefits" can take away the cold hard facts of dirty work, and responsibilities of car hauling.

    and what is "amazing pay and benefits" to you, is not necessarily amazing and great to others....when they see the amount of work required.

    i wish you well, but do not blame any fabricated driver shortage, for your troubles.

    As a former welder, pipe fitter, with a few other side jobs and former farmer, Let's not beat around the bush driving is a skilled trade like welding some drivers are obviously better than others like welders. But let us get back to the problem. People want a job with little money to no invest and have the option of making decent money. Without having to go to an official college.
    Aside from trade jobs where can a person make 90k+ if the driver chooses that lifestyle makes that without a degree?
    Some these companies offer no expense as long you stay with them certain time frame others outright will make you owe them a lot of money choosing the wrong one. I myself have had a different life growing up average city kid we all had different lives but where your struggle begins as you begin and change everything about yourself to better yourself.

    I wasn't given the same education as a regular kid growing up for one the fact remains I make more money off some the investments I have put into myself, rather than be some the places I have purchased turned from dump storage to oil field storage.
    Making a killing off of plus my income as a driver now I am getting passive income just from investments I made younger age from land no one wanted. some the people I grew up with ask how I make so much well I chose to invest in my future while you goofed off. If you want something out of life you have to take it no one will hand you the keys to your success, just because you have currently had success doesn't mean it can't be taken away either. Drivers don't get complacent your job is not to secure your all replaceable one wrong move and your either out of job very least, injured for life, or in jail, last but not least know a few have all the above.

    The way to stay afloat clients, service. If they do good by employees a lot will go a long way but you have to go a certain route for these you can have great service, a lot of clients, and take care your drivers or employees on a fair wage. You can still make a profit quite well there are few and far between jobs that are like this and the lines are long.

    Take UPS they have great pay to employees, but they expect competitive pace, great service, and great efficiency to meet there needs. they have a turn rate no question but talk the drivers they want to leave but don't why the pay knowing full well that job will be taken in a heartbeat. I have posted in past but mention again if you want top pay your gonna be expected to be at a certain standard and if you can't they will find another that can.
    Maybe you should have stayed with 75k per year job because of that was less stressful and more forgiving but you wanted that money saw it didn't realize you need to step up to hold it and fell after achieving it. I have seen people ran out companies just because of this.

    What the point in good pay and benefits, if after 2 car scratches all your money will be taking to pay of repair cost.
    Not to mention that in a lot of car dealerships, the is not that much room to fit a full size truck, and unloading from a street alongside with smartphone holedrs and Tesla autopilot crusing fast enough to kill you, no thx , I will pass ^_^

    And not to mention that you have to fit in weight restrictions, meaning that you will have to rearrange 5-6 cars God knows where if car placed incorrectly

    Weight is not a issue with auto transport, over height is. I hauled autos for a few years for a private outfit with good pay. Crawling around vehicles on the top deck ect. or squeezing out of a car in the belly you have to be agile. I moved on to a Union job so I could retire before I was 112.

    I am sorry but this need attention had relatives who have hauled cows, pigs and all manner of other animals, and they have also hauled cars. They are a specialized sector for a reason you go to these areas to specialize in these areas. Even if you don't go to these areas say flatbed you don't strap down the items and it kills someone well you can and will be charged with the best case what manslaughter.

    These gigs pay better typical I personally never wanted to get in these areas but that's just me. You are just as responsible for the doors on your trailer if they fly off and kill someone I guess people don't understand this. Hauling cows or animals you drive like a crazy person you may have a bunch dead cows when you arrive.

    The house won't take them. Someone will pay however for those damages in one way or another.
    These car haulers, cow, even flatbed, are specialized and they have to change their methods of there pre-trips to ensure the load, driver in a manner standard for these fields to operate safely for themselves and others. If you cannot take pride in knowing truck, trailer safe for roads you do not need to operate a CMV.
