they told me I’ll be home daily off 2 days. My average gross will between 70 to 74k a year they say top drivers make 90k. Home daily anyone run intermodal for these guys? It’s 49cpm and load unload and all that other jazz. It seems to good to be true this position is in Harrisburg pa. Other places same job but they advertise different salaries like 55 to 70 so I’m not sure will I make 70k working 5 days a week 12 hours? Here?

I work jb intermodal out of Haslet Texas. It is what they say it is except it's a struggle to reach even the bottom number consistently. The guys who make more are hustling 6 days a week and getting bonuses and working the accessorial pay because they know all the triggers. It pays less in Texas than Pennsylvania.

For me bottom line is it is pretty low pay compared to other gigs but it is a really enjoyable job and yes..you get home time. Its a trade off.

JB is usually pretty good with their numbers. I do know that the guys out of Harrisburg make a lot more than in Allentown or Wilkes-Barre. If it is something you want to try, talk to a few drivers there and get a better idea.

There's a terminal in East Brunswick, NJ, they have an awful lot of trucks and trailers just sitting around doing nothing. There's also a lot of them on the NJTP, don't know enough to get out of the middle lane doing 50mph in a 65.

They're not just irritating me, c'mon. They're just joining the rest of the other pier rats that don't care about anyone but themselves. Either that or they're afraid if they get to close to the ditch, they might fall in.

JBH was a several week experiment on my part, what a experience it was for a brief time in a cabover. (A 83 international to boot...Ugh) they pay pretty good. What they tell you you will be making pretty close to that. However, when you take your home time? You are losing so much money it's not funny. Id just soon stay out months and months. It's not a problem. Harrisburg has the US Customs at the airport there if I remember right and a railyard not too far. JBH has about 200 railyards but it's not what I was when I ran for them. I was strictly van, OTR national and Canada whatever that was loaded for. I got out due to medical issues that were finally beginning to interfere first in the vision and at the same time other body systems. I was pretty sick at that time. (However I passed that DOT medical is a miracle.. they looked me over pretty good in there..)

When I was running, if the monthly income held out to that .48 a mile or whatever it was (I really didnt pay attention it was at that time the top of their scale, would have been two cents more in a conventional if I was not so stubborn and said yes for orientation. You would be looking at around 62K gross give or take a few thousand for the year.

However. If anything bad at all is two things. First the computer make work training in the ternimal. It's a hamster wheel.I rather benefit from sleep and food making ready for the next run. Second is Minivan training for a road test with 7 other drivers. You will not catch me in one of those again. If you think my driving is bad, you can get out and walk home lol.
