A lot of times you have no choice, if someone is running too slow. You will get it figured out but too slow is as bad as too fast, a truck has to keep it's momentum up or park it.
In a lot of states I prefer just to park, not because of the weather, or how they take care of the roads, but because of the traffic.
It is sometimes quicker to park and leave out once they have plowed the road and traffic has thinned anyway.
We do not slow down much because of the weather, in fact It is raining now and I will be headed outin a few minutes. I will not get far before it turns to freezing, hopefully I get out of the rain first.
I just run the extra board, I am sure the rain is why I got a load tonight. lol

 

Be thankful you didn't hit that 4 wheeler, then you'd have been really screwed. When it comes to wrecks the ditch is always the best option.

 

Apparently he didn't see that video posted on here couple weeks back.

Roads were fine and then suddenly turned to ice and a major collision adding up. And the guy filiming, slammed into other wrecks and then got hit from behind.

You screwed up.

 

Don't even go to Oregon in the winter man. There's a stretch of US 20 about 60 miles long or so east of Bend that is the designated stretch where the state saves money on plowing / salting.

 

The automobile driver was going very slow for good reason and he is lucky you did not wreck him

And the whole point is that you should have been watching the road for changing conditions, and slowed accordingly.
As it was at night, you should have been even more cautious because you can not see that far ahead.

You were passing vehicles that were being safer than you, and it (your carelessness) bit you right in the butt.

 

Your the only one that didn't do his job. Thing is it can be a learning experience and not such a bad thing. Or a stepping stone to your next event that will possibly be bigger.

 

I wouldn't go over Snoqualmie in the winter either if I was you. Cause that goes from clear to like maybe a foot deep in minutes. Montana, Idaho, Utah are also probably not the best choices for you either.
