Does this mean we won’t have coordinators anymore?

I don't think the number of coordinators will change at all. Managers aren't in charge of closing out trips. Coordinators will still do the same job.

I don't want to be negative here but Greg Smith still needs to cut costs. His plan to pay the drivers less failed so eliminating coordinators would save a chunk of money as they are paid well. Maybe they will only need a couple to close and verify trips but i talked to a driver a few months ago about E-trips and he said the driver will do this and when you hit send then it's finished, done, astalavista baby. Any changes have to be made the driver at a computer in the office.

If they do then they should get rid of some of the managers, some of whom are basically useless.

I think you are right. Some offices have more managers than co ordinators. The only reason this plan is in effect is getting rid of office people. Smith's main pay comes from bonuses paid for cost cutting. Shops are being cut back on inventory also. I figure he plans to "seagull" in and cut costs then fly on to his next company. He was "proud" to announce 2000 new hires but I think he was implying he has plenty of reserves for the next round of BS that will run off more of the senior hands. He will not make the same mistake twice.
