Elk Grove Village, IL is a suburbs of Chicago. Plus if you got the truck number you should report it.
DeereRunner97 and DenBob Thank this. -
It was clearly his fault. But things could’ve been done to prevent it.....
Edit to add: I mean it was Mr Prosports fault.....Last edited: May 15, 2019
Mattflat362, mitrucker and Bean Jr. Thank this. -

Other guy at fault but really bad etiquette by the white truck
Mattflat362 and okiedokie Thank this. -
Ya know that one orange sign in the median saying left lane closed? And found out that the RIGHT lane is the one shut.
This appears to be about 30 minutes before Kingman give or take a little bit.
I think both trucks were against their governors and Mr White is too aggressive in the left lane. No wonder Mr Purple did what he did getting over.
These kinds of situations are easily resolved. Slow down 30 mph and settle in behind Mr Purple. Let him go.
This is not exactly a good video It was unnecessary what both trucks ended up doing.
I see they are forever paving out the grooves on that I40. They should just make pavement 10 feet thick and be done with it. //snarkMattflat362 Thanks this. -
It does look like he was going to exit cause he slows down and of course his blinker doesn't come on basically until he starts coming over. A clear case of driver on the phone not paying attention. While the white truck could possibly have avoided it by slowing down earlier, he really had no reason to think he should. The red truck had no blinker on and appeared to be letting him around. Bad deal.

My question is, why would YOU stop if the other guy obviously WASN'T? I would have tried raising him on the CB, and when that didn't work, stayed on his 6 tailing him (from a safe distance, of course) with the cops on the line making sure he didn't get away. Once you stopped and he's on up the road, your chances of finding him are significantly reduced...even with company/truck/trailer number he may never be found. As long as your truck is driveable, I'd make sure I didn't lose sight of that truck.
TripleSix, OldeSkool, DenBob and 1 other person Thank this. -
So stupid. The guy didn't even have to merge there. He could have merged farther ahead, after fully clearing your front end. But he thought he had to get over at all costs NOW because there was a vehicle on the shoulder.
It's a good example of why I hate that custom or perception, and do nothing to encourage it.
Easy for others to say but I would have floored it and finished the pass. Send an unambiguous message that the left lane is occupied and get by him.
You should definitely do whatever you can to bust him. He has fully earned forced retirement from trucking. -
@eriktran84 the speed limit dropped to 55 then 45 and yet you still kept your foot in it. The lane closure signs indicated your lane was going to end (which were wrong)
But if it was gonna be your lane ending, why were you still trying to pass? You probably should've eased up a little until you both could see what the work zone was all about. Riding along side of another truck leaves neither truck any options...
I guess you could show that video to his company and hope they pay but if I were you, I wouldn't want my company to see the vid.
I'm not trying to cause trouble here but that's just the way I see it...cjb logistics, RoadRooster, Bob Dobalina and 1 other person Thank this.
