I did get a service like not long ago. 2-3 weeks ago is when i got the service. Not adding oil after that. I just added a little bit after that.

Your going to need to start keeping better records of your maintenance. Cummins engines are known to have high soot. Keeping a good oil service schedule can reduce problems. Tracking by mileage when you have the oil and filters changed also when add oil or coolant can spot problems.

Some things to consider having done very soon.
Have the valves checked and adjusted, usually called doing an overhead.
Have the DPF pulled and cleaned and the ash timer reset.

If you can find a high rated Cummins shop, that would be better choice.

If you never had DPF cleaned out it probably needs it done. Most likely filled up with ash

Its just diesel additive. You add it to fuel tanks and then fill up

Define "sometimes". With a Cummins you shouldn't have to add oil for about 10K miles after an oil change. Once you need to add a gallon you should be within about 2-3000 miles to your next oil change, assuming you are going 12000 to 15000 between oil changes. If you are having to add more oil than a gallon or two between changes, or having to start adding oil within a couple thousand miles of a change, then you need to start looking at sources of oil leaks.

cummins have carbon packing problem on the rings, if you have to add a lot you have to check it out. It might be burning it and clogging DPF with oil which will explain excessive regen cycles.

    Lepton1 and mhyn Thank this.
