Chinatown always finds companies, OTR, regional, even dedicated take a special person sometimes want to stay out a long period of time even more so for the pay being hardly worth the headache. But if you want a good tanker might consider sticking with them if you leave that job find the next one worse you will basically tank your career.
If you leave even that one keep this in mind job hopping is bad even in trucking. A lot the decent ones want 12-24 months to try to stick out for the 12 months of you can I stuck it out for 12 months with a horrible mega carrier as many drivers have but they do serve a purpose and that is seat time. longer you last more you can expect better companies will let you in their doors.

I can’t think of anyone in their right mind that would send a 90 day driver out on the highways with a tanker. That being said, look up the addresses of local tanker companies, preferably smaller, family owned outfits. Visit them, and with your most sincere, and eager expression explain your life long dream of being a tanker yanker , and inquire about any possible yard jockey positions they might find it in their heart to give you. Get your foot in the door that way, and you’ll undoubtedly progress to shuttling trailers back and forth to tank washes, then after a while you get to start preloading trailers for the road drivers, and then maybe doing the local deliveries that road guys drop on the yard. And then... maybe.. after you go a few months without running over anything, they’ll find themselves in a bind to get a load covered, and PRESTO young man, you become a tanker yanker. Before you get mad, thinking I’m messing with you, this is how I got my first break into tankers.

One company I ran for out of school has a rule that newbies get to 25 before their insurance will allow them to run gasoline, avgas, diesel etc.

One other thing you will want to look for is, if a company has real lax hiring standards. There's a reason for that and you will want to stear clear of them. The MORE dings on a persons driving history that they allow means they are EITHER a crappy company that no decent driver will drive for OR that they have no steady freight so no one sticks around long! Good drivers will NOT stick around with a company full of bad drivers!!! So it becomes a revolving door. You actually WANT a company that has high standards. I have watched many a company in my area lose contracts SIMPLY because they were just hiring "warm bodies" and believe it or not, a couple of bad drivers can cost you YOUR job. If the company loses its contract, guess who just lost your job due to no fault of your own??? I've watched it many times!
Just be wary of "sounds to good to be true". Good companies WILL hire you IF your history is good AND you are patient. BE PATIENT! There are great high paying jobs out here but sometimes you just gotta wait!
But it always pay off when you get with the right company!

    Good luck!

I would get more experience before jumping into tankers 3 months driving ain't nothing. I am gonna assume you even only drove fair conditions because it's unknown to me even if you are in the northeast. Tankers require more skill on being very gentle in the turns like for milk you have to be careful of the surge. I assume you want water, sand or something along those lines most people do over milk not saying you can't make money but when the pay is so great why not.

Get used to driving a tractor-trailer for twelve months all-weather, heavy rain, snow, sandstorm maybe. if you do find one that hires you as people pointed out they will be bottom the barrel you may regret joining them because of the work conditions.

Stay twelve months find a better than the average company really just invest in yourself that's what it is all about.
