Found a interesting piece of history while digging into the Son of Snidely background tonight. Anybody know if Logan has ties to Oregon ?

Spent Sunday through Tuesday on a tandem load with @Bad Monkey . Top bloke. Perfect example of a guy that does his research and uses his brain. I could use some of his calm nature too.

Wound up unloading 350 panels, 61’ long of roofing metal, and several pallets of hardware, by hand.

4 good old boys from MS, and 2 little fat old truckers. Worked out great - had to leave before my ankle bracelet expired to head 850 miles for the $ load.

Should have taken my time. It’s turned a bit sour.

Last time, a buddy did the right thing and pulled the plug on a shipper packaging failure half way through the load. Resulting in a 1000 mile rescue trip by the receiver to rectify. Crap storm erupted. Rightly so - we’d been thrown under the bus too long, were ignored and blamed, I have to credit him for standing up.

Cold shoulder here this time. To the point of locked doors and zero communication on the fact we’re not being loaded, 12 hours past appointment time.

Empty apologies to pilot cars. Permit assistance time wasted. Still too many variables to accurately plan. More than likely we’ll be hung out for the weekend, and receiver will be inconvenienced - again. By another 3 or 4 days.

All the while, greed, lies and dishonesty lurks in the background. It’s such a cut throat industry.

I trust fewer people, and say less each day.

 

And - on a different note.

My son )) called briefly today. Need to call him back. @Liquidforce .

His story is remarkable - one most of you wouldn’t believe. And I wouldn’t blame you. But it gives him a birds eye view on the importation front currently.

Seems the import industry has already seen a sharp shock with the recent tariff changes. Sharp shock.

I’d prepare to see a fairly rapid adjustment in the industry, and I rarely make a prediction.

Hunker down folks - and discourage the neighbor over the fence that asks if trucking is s good game right now - especially with a van.
