I've got a lousy record from years ago and I unfortunately do have 3 violations on my record from 2 years ago. The current violations include one speed 1 to 10 mph over, one obstructing traffic and one defective speedometer. I do have 3 DUI's from over 10 years ago and was a habitual traffic offender over 20 years ago. Another problem is that I am a transfemeral amputee and would have to have the pedal moved to the left of the brake pedal. Is it even worth my time and money to go to school for my cdl?
Lousy record

don't you have a prosthetic limb?
and also, i cannot say with certanty, that any trucking company will install/modify any vehicles -
Driving is not something you should be doing.
buddyd157 Thanks this. -
You know, once you get a CDL you are held to a higher standard by law enforcement, right? You are considered a professional driver, even if your job isn't as a driver. You may want to consider that.

If I owned the truck, I would modify the truck for you if your record was 200% clean...you have ancient violations that make me wonder if you still have a drinking problem and you have 3 current violations that say you have terrible judgement.
Large companies won't modify the truck for a newbie with a bad record. They probably wouldn't do it if you have a clean record...they might do it if you have worked for them for a long time and they want to bring you back after the surgery.
Most small companies dont hire newbs regardless of your physical or driving record situation.
These are the realities of the market. -
And I thought I was going to have a hard time finding an outfit to drive for.. (face palm)
Maybe welding school would work better for you?? -

Now that I think about it, apply to CR England. They'll probably take you.

Many truck drivers have missing limbs, including a missing leg.
