same thing happened to me in pa a couple years ago, right down to the funny look.

i wonder if they're able to pull the 'i thought it was a tip' defense.

 

Your initial headline is blaming the tollway but yet it was partial your mistake too. Yes the toll collector should've giving you your 10 back but at the same time you should be more organized and make sure your only handing him 4 bucks. But you really shouldnt be just blaming the illinois toll people yes I do agree the whole system needs too go but yet it doesn't need the negativity from your story. Im sure in your pass you've pocketed a few extra bucks from the wrong change or money you found we have all done it it happens. Im sure the collector enjoyed it too probably bought him a 6 pack of beer with it.

Let me ask you this: If the situation was reversed and he would have by accident overchanged you by $10 would you say something or pocket the "tip" and go about your merry way?
