Hello... sorry, i am new to this. i am sure this has been addressed, but i have seen so many conflicting statements regarding it. if i am a SOLE driver, do i need to comply with the sleeper cab requirements? or can i log off and sleep in the back seat. it seams to me that the sleeper requirements are intended for multiple drivers, where one is driving and the other is sleeping. why else would they require such things as a safety harness unless the vehicle was moving? thank you for any clarification.

IF your truck is a DAY CAB. NO Sleeper... you cannot use Tractor as a sleeper. There is none.

IF your truck IS a sleeper truck. AND YOU are the SOLO driver OR a TEAM driver then you read:

    FMCSA summary

    Regulations Section

Actual gospel in regulations for FMCSA for all truckers with Sleeper Trucks as of July 3 2019

eCFR — Code of Federal Regulations

    Remember.

You have 11 hours to drive with a 30 minute mandatory break and a 14 hour total onduty/driving logging work day in a sleeper truck. You have 70 total hours in 8 days. (A older rule allowed for 60 Hours in 7 days depending on your company) Your sleeper is your rest. Your home. Your CAB is the office. A workplace.

    Hope this helps.

They make a blow up mattress for the front part of the seat to make it level all the way across to your front seat put that in and curtains if you wish in the back but you wont be comfortable and I dont think dot really cares as long as you are stopping and getting adequate sleep to not be tired

There’s stipulations and requirements to what counts as a DOT compliant sleeper berth. I dunno what they are, but I know throwing an air mattress over the back seat doesn’t count. Here’s a link to a company that’ll convert yours to be compliant.

    It is not a sleeper.

YOU CAN however send that truck to a SHOP to TEAR OUT that back cab and BUILD a DOT APPROVED ONE man sleeper onto it for a number of thousands of dollars depending on your truck model.

YOU are a CREW CAB. Take 4 people with that backseat. NOT a sleeping space that is legal, lawful or allowable under DOT trucking rules.
