That was gonna be my next question. How do you "charm" a polecat?cke, ShooterK2, Crusader66 and 7 others Thank this.

You know, I spent my whole adult life before trucking doing “things” others didn’t want to do and charged according. Made a good living for myself and my family.
Now that I’ve been in trucking 4 years I find there are lots that will do absolutely “anything” and 2x cheaper than the last guy.

Here's an interesting thread:
Need help on doing tug test and clutch
Maybe one of you fine folks can explain this better to me because I just can't see how it'd work. -
Just a piece of tidbit for you guys (probably already know it). There is a difference between a skunk and a polecat. A skunk has a solid white stripe down its back and a polecat will have a striped white stripe down its back. White, black, white. Dam, I feel smart. They are cousins, but not brothers.cke, peterbilt_2005, Al. Roper and 14 others Thank this.

I actually had no idea. I just know to stay away from the stinkers!

I tried to read that thread and it gave me a headache. A tug test for the fifth wheel connection is simply releasing the tractor brakes and leaving the trailer brakes set and easing out the clutch to tug on the connection to make sure it's locked. That guy was getting confused about a clutch brake. He thinks pushing in the clutch will stop the truck.cke, peterbilt_2005, Al. Roper and 11 others Thank this.

In the world of trapping the main objective is to salvage the hide without having rips, tears, or bullet holes to get the most $$$ from each hide.
Skunks have a thin skull..... Poppy would carry a good sized stick that was rigid but not real heavy. Slowly advancing towards the polecat he would hold the stick out in the direction of polecat. Slowly closing the gap between him and the polecat, when he got close enough the polecat would sniff the end of the stick out of curiosity. Stick being about 5-6’ long meant he was fairly close to it. After the polecat settled down and relaxed he would move the stick in a circular motion slowly, as well as up and down. When the polecat showed no interest he would raise the stick and come down hard on its head....., then grab it and yank its tail over its back to unload it and keep it off the fur.
Poppy peeled the bark off many things, when I get a moment I will tell y’all about the time Mommy’s pet Tom cat came up missing and why.....

It is a state route. Not so funny story, in the fall coming north about 500 foot to the west you can see this huge tunnel over a tiny stream. Yep it was built backwards afterwards the forman hung himself from it. 1900 was the year.
