Driver, BEWARE! Check out the thread here: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...tmc-transportation-inc-des-moines-ia-104.html
TMC is experiencing problems, again. Definitely a noobie company . . . but you might want to reconsider.

I would like to think of myself is in your position, I believe that I have already been excepted to roehl trucking. I am really excited and ready to learn a new career. Good luck and happy trucking

Cool! I guess that means I'll see you Monday morning!

spindale??

No, sorry, Nashville. I just saw NC in your post and didn't consider the possibility of another Sage school somewhere else.

Probably better off checking the company website...
I forget what you're paid during CDL instruction, but if I recall candun has a CDL, yes? During the bulk of the training it's $600 per week guaranteed as long as you're available for dispatch, or 12 cpm for 5000 miles (that's in a team training environment) and over - whichever is greater. Can frequently happen. Upgrade to A-seat (solo) starts at 30 cpm with a raise to 34 cpm fairly quickly - at 80,000 miles if I recall correctly. That doesn't include the fuel bonus. It's fairly easy to wind up grossing 40k at Prime the first year as a company driver. -
Actually I start school at my local College Monday AM.
Ironpony, is that the case NOW in 2Q 2009 or is that what you remember from starting with them some time back? Also, is that based on going to their school and being an indentured servant or going to school on your own as I am?

They don't do the "indentured servitude" deal the way say Stevens Transport does. Training costs are forgiven after one year of service - $1750 cost to you after 6 mos. Doesn't concern you anyway.
That being said, I got my CDL at Sage Technical in Henderson, CO, started with Prime as an unexperienced CDL holder - what they call a C-seat. Gross first full year driving solo (going the per diem route for taxes) was $47k. With what I'm showing for a decrease in miles (I'm a company driver, and would definitely not recommend doing a lease deal with anyone until the economy recovers!) this year over last, $40k is not unreasonable, assuming you have a good work ethic. -
Thanks for the info! Contradicts some of the negative said about Prime.

Candun,
You are getting good info from everyone else so far. Really.
I completely understand your personal position. However, seeking the Holy Grail of the trucking industry at this time is fruitless. You only want to work for a company that will respect you as an employee and treat you right. You do your work well and expect some consideration in return.
Those days are basically gone!!
