Why can't reefer connect to the tractors power source?

Me...$12.00 from one of those flea market stops in the parking lot of the truck stop...BRAND NEW...
heavy gauge wire..2-O..I think...(SAME AS AN AUTO STORE)
15' long, but I cut off 2 quick clamps and used a Large butt connector for 2-O wire..Insulated the connection properly...
Now I have a 30' long jumper cable,only two quick clamps for the reefer...Only used it twice ..ever..but It definably come's in handy...

 

The plug-in type of jumper cables that are carried on tow trucks have several advantages.
#1 People don't abscond with them as often.
#2 they an be "pre-wired" to the most convenient location. (For a reefer, the back of the truck)
#3 the lug style pictured, can be hard wired to the reefer battery so when the truck is down, the reefer alternator will keep the truck fully charged and the sleeper powered. (Remember to un-plug when you un-hook!)
If you want to keep it plugged in ALL the time... We need to talk about isolators...

 

Note to self , pick up your jumper cables the next Tim you are at the house. Lol , I also gonna add a aux battery and a bat isolator to run my inverter so I hopefully won't need the cables.

 

Why was it allowed to run out of fuel? The reefer circuit board does allow charging the system unless some rookie allows it to have no fuel.

 

Just a 10 0r 12 gauge wire vice gripped to the two hot terminals tractor and refer will charge refer to start in just a short time. left marker lights on truck one night and used refer to get truck started. It will work.

 

this is what I run. hooked the pig tale end to battery on reefer and the long end to truck batteries so if reefer battery is dead just pull the cable out of the battery box and snap it together and im ready to roll

 

Here's what I'm thinking happened, reefer ran out of fuel, driver keep trying to start reefer, not check to see if there was fuel, ran battery down, know won't start unless jumped, some one posted about battery post behind sleeper, not all trucks have them, mine doesn't, but, if you haven't long enough cables, just drop trailer and pull up to it sideways, when I use to pull a reefer, I always topped the tank when I fueled the truck, didn't care if it only took 5 gallons, never had a issue with lack of fuel

 

We probably work for the same company! How do you do this? They told me to get an ac and they will walk me through how to hook it up. Alas, i call and no one answers.

 

A word of caution ,if jumping batterys ,ether way ,wacth out for volatge spikes ,they really screw up the e logs.
