I wanted to thank Rick first of all for his post. It's nice to get constructive advice instead of being jumped on as I have so many times in the past. "Go home nube, forget about it," seemed to be the common fare for so long. I will say I've ran into a few very helpful people on here, and I definitely count you in that small number. Also agree with the other posters about the smaller and local companies. Large co. experience is what large co. recognize. Otherwise there are many qualifications and exams that have to be met and overcome, and much hoop jumping. If you care to elaborate more Mr. Rick about what some of your job details were for the two said companies I'd be very interested in that information. If you'd prefer I can provide my email, or you can write here in the forum. Thank you guys for the helpful direction. Having your class A with no OTR IS a frustrating position to be in during this highly competitive job market. It doesn't matter how well you did on maneuvers, any endorsements you have, perfect record / history, or professional recommendations. Most potential employers want that black and white experience or wish you best of luck really quickly.
P.S. - In recent weeks during my forays into labor departments, classifieds, and employment companies, I have found no less than 14 excelent jobs for drivers granted you had the magic 24 months experience OTR! Most advertising plainly under salary 53K yearly to $1,750 weekly! I was almost as frusterated as the time I noticed the home loan interest rate at the bank fell below 5%. Part of me wonders if I'll always be 2 years behind where I should have been standing in the first place.
Have class A but no OTR

try SWIFT.I went there with two years of staying at home with a cdl and they put me in their training program
Omasdaddy Thanks this. -
Those ads also include a disclaimer "up to".
The home loan thing...if you don't do it now/soon. You won't see low rates for a long time.
Even after 2 years experience, you're going to run into the "super truckers". You could have 100 years, and they would still know more, and be 100 times better than you.....in their mind. -
I'm having the same problem here in Ga. New CDL but no OTR trying everything I can think of,even offering a free week to any interested O/O's.

JTAN I am feeling your pain. I've thought about reducing myself to working for minimum wage for a job, cooking, cleaning and generally begging like a stupified fool. I like your idea also of a free week...but we may have to throw in a BJ to get the job done, and for that...we have to determine how bad we want to eat, because personally, my gate dosen't swing in that direction.
All that aside, if you were to have any luck, please do let me know, I'll do the same for you. Maybe we wont have to reduce ourselves to sexual favors and endentured servitude, but any other ideas cut from that same cloth are definately helpful. -
