And there was a time that you didn’t know van and reefer. So, do you stay in your comfort zone, or do you blaze a new path?
“But Six....”
Yes, ‘starting over.’ It’s not really starting over. You know how to drive. You need to learn the securement regs and the freight lanes. Next time you go to a full service truck stop, look in the parking lot for those open deck guys, and have them walk you around their trailer. -
I need some good beer STAT!
Not sure if they sell that here. World's largest? -
Back home. Stuck around in Tulsa about 1.5 hours long enough to see rates slurp nasty balls right now.
Today was obviously a unicorn - unsolicited phone call, high bid, agreement. 177 loaded miles at $1,388.
Total trip home to home 511 miles.
Happy with 12 hour day, but humbled by the horror show of general freight rates right now.
Seeing more people going down in flames. Not sure how long this slide will be.
Night all.1951 ford, Oxbow, BigCam9670 and 20 others Thank this. -
What Six said. At least for me anyways, and I'm sure plenty more.
I'll always try to help a guy out that's real, and realistic.1951 ford, Oxbow, BigCam9670 and 15 others Thank this. -
Usually All verbal, usually you will find if these guys jump out of a truck ( and they know they’re in the wrong) their seed poke shrinks pretty fast, when they realize you don’t back up, and you don’t back down!!1951 ford, Oxbow, BigCam9670 and 15 others Thank this.

If I go sign on with a carrier that hauls a lot of contract freight, spot market will turn around.1951 ford, Oxbow, BigCam9670 and 17 others Thank this.

Nothing really makes me uncomfortable about open deck except, pipe, and coil, and rebar, and over demensional. Weight don't bother me. But keeping my straps nice is my main issue. Along with cold rain or ice and falling off.
-
Straps won't stay nice no matter how hard you try, believe me.
You can't be afraid to haul anything, just be confident in your securement.
The only way I know to keep your deck from icing up in the winter is to stay south of I10.1951 ford, Oxbow, BigCam9670 and 20 others Thank this.
