You really need an answer to WHY this is selfish, and NOT responsable.
Depending on someone else to pay your way...so, you can TRY some other trade
Taking a job from another American citizen so, you can TRY another trade
I work for pun tang, and cash.... Those two area's require alot of my ability to provide for other's in my family.
You see "short bus"... It's not about YOU, It's about the others YOU support, and give to...NOT being a suck leach, or drain to the system.
It's my God given right to except money from OTHERS, for a day's WORK.... In return, that money brings me a sense of responsibility for the welfare ,and raising of my family.
Your either young ,stupid.... or both?

Trans man,
Your full of crap.
No one would ever try anything new at your logic, Sometimes you have to be willing to do what ever it takes. This man is not asking for welfare or any other assistance just a chance. Dont be such an ###.luvtheroad, leannamarie and Tran Man Thank this. -
lostNfound Thanks this.

I have to at least give the guy credit for wanting to get some time behind the wheel. As all of you seasoned drivers know it's not like it used to be. There was a time that you just jumped in the truck and your dad, uncle, neighbor, or whom ever took you out and taught you to drive. It doesn't work that way now, so if a person really has that desire to drive, they have to do some sort of school. We all know the drill about this.
Then after that we all know what happens... No one will hire that person or they wind up going to a trucking "sweat shop". If they make it past that, who knows maybe they keep wanting to drive or forget it.
I have to agree with the previous poster, this person isn't asking for anything from anyone except the chance to drive. He's not asking for money or anyone's job, just the chance to drive so that he can learn. I really don't see anything wrong with that. This is a tough industry so if we can help someone achieve their goal, why not?
Trans Man at the risk of starting some s### it shows that you aren't a driver so why are you so worried about him getting a driving job?
This is a petty statement but, I sincerely hope I don't know you and that you don't live close to me, cause I know we wouldnt be friends.Tran Man and notarps4me Thank this. -

While I haven't seen evidence that it's a problem in this industry, in the aviation world, the "I'll work for free" thing is a huge problem.
As was recently in the news, the co-pilot on your regional airline flight may be making less than a taxi driver or the kid flipping burgers at burger king. The reason is largely because the jobs go to people with little experience and you have to take those jobs to get the experience to get the good paying jobs. Why do they pay so little? Because there's a line of people willing to do it for free. Everyone knows that for everyone hired there are several willing to work for free to get the experience.
It cheapens the job to say you'll do it for free. The time you put into the job is worth something. If it's free, then the job isn't worth anything, and neither are you. While every job inherently has things you do that you don't get paid for, to simply say you'll do the whole job for free cheapens yourself. -
Most students that go to truck driving school actually pay to learn the basics. Learning for free if one can find an O/O to give him a shot isn't a bad deal. As long as he has passed the written exam first.
Everyone had to start somewhere.Ducks Thanks this.
