Meadowlark is by far the worst company I've ever driven for. I would put Swift or Cr England above them if that tells you anything. In order to drive for Meadowlark you need your own trailer as well. Which means all loads are live unloads. They will rent a trailer to you at the cost of a house mortgage per month and expect you to cover most of the maintenance cost on that trailer. You won't be able to because all of their loads are leftover scraps from JB, Schneider, Landstar, Nolan, etc. On top of that they take their sweet ### time paying you. Their fuel discounts are 25 to 55 cents less per gallon than a big carrier, their maintenance and tire discounts are basically non existent. Please, for your own sake, do not drive for this company. I had 6 other drivers waiting for me to give the word that it was a good place to go. It isn't. I was suckered into it by an agent that I thought was my friend.

Have you worked for Swift or England? I'm thinking about their L/P program and would like to hear from someone smart that has some first hand experience.
mjd4277, Lonesome, 88 Alpha and 1 other person Thank this. -
I was at CR England for only a few days. I went there to get my CDL. Saw the writing on the wall. Went to a trucking school instead. CR England is bad news bears. As a company driver they will give all the best loads to lease drivers. If you don't lease you will struggle and if you do there is a good chance you will be stuck with a lemon. My first company after trucking school was Swift. My trainer/mentor was an owner operator. He was very successful and I still use his lessons and tips to this day. Swift has a reputation for bad drivers, but it is possible to succeed there. However, I would recommend JB Hunt or Schneider. They have great lease/owner programs and tons of freight. I have heard flmany times that Landstar is a good one, but I can't say from experience.

I only dealt with their Brokerage dept. They were professional and very business oriented.
I wasn't interested in anything else from them other than some freight they had moving in my backhaul lane.
If you were leased to them.....I could see the "control" aspect of things -
