    Very sad.

I have noticed many people, truckers included, who do not slow down for construction zones when the signs warn. I have seen some very close calls. It seems everyone is in such a hurry. Pity.

    Oh, sweet Lord!
Hubby and I travel that route several times a month, and my brother-in-law and his family live in the area, and travel through there several times a day!
Hubby is on the phone now, making sure they are all safe. BIL was in backed up traffic from the first accident.
This one happened about 1/2 mile behind them.

I;m so sorry for those who perished, and their families, but EVER so grateful my family is safe.

Just another reason for the government to add more regulations to a already over regulated industry. Just like the one I posted a few days back. One women died when a driver drifted to and slammed into a car parked on the shoulder killing the women inside..

It's possible, or he could have been texting. Doesn't say in the article. Absolutely tragic.

I found this post in the comments section at the Tulsa World, though, anybody can post there.

Please explain how you know the phone had anything to do with this.

He could have had a sneezing fit.
He could have dozed off because of no sleep at home night before.
He could have not even noticed.
It could have happened after you crested a hill.

The article says nothing about a phone.

The death toll is up to 9 now. And it's come out that the driver of the truck was 76 yrs old.

This is a shame, something that should have never happened. Brake failure perhaps. I run that stretch and I thank god I wasn't there to see this happen.

I see drivers on their phone all of the time, a simple ear piece could save the day, but I will not be on any type of phone, while driving, ever. Way to much going on around us, and we're huge and #### near unstoppable.

The other day, a driver was on his phone (left ear) backing his truck up at an extremely busy truck stop. He kept on twisting his neck and body, so he can see his mirrors, because his hand and arm was in his way.

Another one that gets me, seeing drivers w/their foot up on the dash or seat. Just because they are in cruise control and cruising down a hwy, isn't an excuse to be lazy.

    CommDriver and sweezly1 Thank this.
