There is a thing with those sign-on bonuses...
If you collect some of it during the year and quit before the final payout, you may be on the hook to pay back that part of the bonus they have already paid you.
In essence, you break a contract if you leave early.
My ex-wife has that problem at her current nursing job.
They take advantage of her because they know she will owe them a lot of money if she quits early.Upinsmoke and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
I got stoplossed in the marines.. Thats when you have a contract with the US government for an entry and exit date, and they change your exit to all zeros and keep you as long as they please. Play along or go to the brig.
From that day forth, F you. I will never engage in anything i cant drop on the spot for whatever reason i choose. -
I don't want nothing anymore but a
53ft dry van and a 1000 mile load
Going to anywhere.
It's the least amount of work for
The most money.
And there's nobody to bother me.Upinsmoke, FoolsErrand, FlaSwampRat and 1 other person Thank this. -

The carrier who's web site I quoted has a chicagoland location where there was a circus of container guys bonus shopping. Stay the 6 months, collect and look for the carrier with the highest offer and they jump there. Rinse and repeat....
Every location they had, as they became established in that marketplace had to offer a bonus to attract more owner operators.
Times have pushed up the amounts offered. Around 10 years ago it was only $1000.00 and $50.00 for a clean level one...inflationUpinsmoke Thanks this.
