In the old days people died from dental infections, and you could too.
Yes it’s a medical emergency, they can’t fire you for that. If they try, sick the feds on them.

Abandoning a load is a CAREER KILLER if you ever 'may' want to fall back on trucking...and an ER 'anywhere' would see you immediately, and yes for dentifrice issues. Trust me, they have truck parking. Hell, bump a dang dock. They won't know any better. Leave your box locked and go indoors. No BOL for them, no seal breakage.

Been doing this 20 plus years, just.. MHO.

    Best to ya.

You don't need to go home for a toothache. Just about any dentist in the country can fix it. Park in the right truck stop or Walmart and you can walk to a dentist.

I doubt the company would prevent you from going to a dentist, just the one in your home town.

Don't pick this hill to die on.

Just got told that a tooth ache is not a medical emergency. A supervisor over dispatch told me that, so I'm definitely done. Thanks for all the input drivers and keep on trucking.

It's a shame the stupid insurance companies don't consider it an emergency either. I don't know if I'd quit over it, like others say, you can park at Walmart and Uber will take you, most dentists have emergency service, best have a credit card ready, last one cost me about $250 bucks, up front, with a pain killer, and I was in and out in 20 minutes. I'm not so sure how dangerous it is for your life, I think the health field over states that to get you in, I lived for months with sour teeth, but there's something that always tells you it's time to go. "Unavailable for dispatch" ( does that still work?) couple hours, you'll be on your way. They'll get over it.

Are you driving an automatic? If so, raise the seat up, steer with your knees and grab a pair of pliers. Yank that bad tooth out and deliver that super important load for the company that cares maybe a little too much about it’s employees.

I've always admired anyone that could pull their own teeth, something you'd see on an old Western movie and whiskey was the only thing around..
