    ***Yawn***

130 PM and 1 already beat the ATL and Crashville, TN traffic.

    To me, a weekend is a weekend...whether it's Monday...Tuesday, Saturday...Sunday, Wednesday... Thursday.

I no longer need to be home by Friday night for it to qualify as a weekend. That's something you learn to accept after nearly two decades of this. I deliver Saturday, I will likely be home before noon, and won't have to go out again until Monday the 10th.

Hit it hard for another 5 to 6 weeks. Lather, rinse, and repeat.

That is just my usual routine. Leave MN Monday, deliver in FL and reload Wednesday or early Thursday...back by Friday or Saturday. For anyone who runs FL, This time of year, even with a reefer, you are lucky to get a load the next day after delivering...even with a reefer.
Outside of 1 truck breakdown and 1 reefer breakdown, those are the only two times in the past 7 years that I have not made it home or made it home in time to at least recap hours and do next week's trip At the very worst, I recap hours on my outbound, but that doesn't happen often. But I would venture to say every once in a while things go wrong in Millis fantasyland, right?

During the "bad" time of time of year, June through late September, I average 3100 to 3400 miles a week. During the
rest of the year which is really busy for produce, I backhaul from as far away as Homestead, FL or Immokalee/Naples all the way to Central MN and Central WI sometimes. Quite a few 3600 to 4000 mile weeks in there.

2+full days down, and 2+ full days back of not bumping a dock and not swinging doors. Just sitting back in the rocking chair, relaxing as I blow by Millis and Heartland trucks on the hills and the flats like they're up on jacks. They often "show me who's boss" in the construction zones though.

    No "Millis 500" for me.

I fuel where I want within reason, run any toll road I want, I don't have to ask permission to take a different route if that arises.

Yup, no one could ever be a good as Millis.

Will it last? Maybe 10 years, maybe 10 more days. If and when that card is dealt, I will adapt and overcome like I have before. For now I will enjoy and appreciate it while I can.

I will concede that Millis is a decent starter company. They aren't and never were that great.

Let's stop the bickering in here and absolutely NO recruiting allowed. Just a reminder.

I have a good friend of mine who was with Gordon for 5 plus years and was with them when Heartland Bought them and he saw firsthand just the absolute nonsense that Heartland is... He was on a dedicated run out of Portland and halsey Oregon to denver and back For Georgia Pacific and when Heartland took Gordon over they basically blew that account because they did not wanna buy high cube trailers as GP required for that account As a result they lost that Account... Along with several other long time accounts Gordon had...

Not sure what other options there are when you are close to retirement age and you own the company and want to retire but to sell.

Normally a smaller company does not buy a bigger company. I would have hoped for them to have sold to a better company regardless of size but I'm not in their shoes and do not know what went on behind the scenes.

Why didn't just use the same trailers that Gordon was using?

Evidently they didn't want anything what either of those companies names on it.... Which in my opinion is totally idiotic since they do the same thing and Haul freight in them... Because they rapidly got rid of both Gordon and interstates equipment..

Well, sounds stupid to me, but they just dished $150m in cash for Millis. So, maybe we're the stupid ones.
