Wel oldskooler, thats no issue most these young drivers in fleet trucks driving them at 1100 rpm. Have a feeling you will find same results from a engine lugged down low all it's life too. Hammered apart.

Here's my 4" x 6" tractor supply special my FIL bought me in '04, and some of the modifications we did to it. I have cut stuff on here that was never meant to be cut on a saw this small. Take the sliding portion of the vise off and you just gained a little more capacity. You do have to get creative with the clamping when you do that.
Also, buy the bi-mteal blades instead of the carbon steel blades. They last 3-4 times as long and most of the time, I've worn them out instead of breaking them. I have yet to wear out a carbon steel blade, they always break first.

A set of cheap wheels and a handle. The chain, which is a must, is to keep the top from flipping back when you roll it around. They're not heavy at all, but it beats picking it up or dragging it everytime you want to move it.

The tray stiffens the legs up greatly as well as giving a place to store stuff. That is a metal recipe box that I keep extra roller guides as well as the safety stuff off the saw in. I also keep an allen wrench in there for adjusting the stop on the side and changing out the roller guides which are nothing more than sealed ball bearings. I forgot to take a picture of those, but they're easy to source.
A large Phillips head screw driver is necessary for blade changes. The only things I have replaced on this saw are blades, the motor (this saw has been used hard) and 1 roller guide.
If you look at sliding portion of the vise in the 2nd picture, you'll notice the corner nearest the blade is rounded off. It sticks out when making an angle cut. That is what got the roller guide.
It really doesn't matter if you get the saw at Harbor Freight, or Tractor Supply or anywhere else like that, they're all pretty much identical just different colors.

I have that exact saw. Couldn't keep blades from breaking so I use the chop saw now instead. Maybe I'll have to try the bi-metal ones.

I put LED tubes in my kitchen fixture a while back and duly impressed. I've seen those you speak of at HF. Looks like a deal, but already got commercial 8' fixtures in my garage. LED conversion project has been delayed however. The summer home improvement budget got reallocated to the gun store. oops.

When it gets cold the ballasts growl and they need a little warm up time. I can live with it a while longer. But if any of the tubes go dark, the upgrade project is back on.

    Not always their fault, unfortunately.

I almost never use 12th gear in mine. There’s no freeways where I go every day, save for the. US-13 bypass, so I cruise along in 11th at 60 taching 1300 or so. Upshifting would drop that down to 1000.

Now here’s the icky part. I drove a newer truck a few weeks ago on a Saturday run that needed a twin screw. That one limited you to 53 mph in 11th gear. :biggrin_25513:
