Thank you Mr. @RedForeman for giving the guys an update on what was going on last Thursday.....
Right now I am sitting right by my dad's side... he is sleeping in bed.... it's 1:40 am local time here in the middle of nowhere... northeast of Brasil... At some point I will go to bed and his wife will take over.... we need to monitor him practically 24/7....
I am so very thankful I am here... he is alive now and he was still alive when I arrived.. even thought it took him a while to understand that I am here... he is practically blind now, can't hear much and feeling very confused and disoriented....Al. Roper, OLDSKOOLERnWV, exhausted379 and 8 others Thank this. -
It has been a very tiresome journey since last Tuesday when I dropped my last load at my company in OKC....
Here is a quick review in pictures.... internet here is very slow... so I may not upload all the pictures...
But anyway... here it goes...
Took me 8 freakin hrs to move all my "home" out of the big truck to a Penske I rented in OKC...
Cleaned it all.... cause I don't like to return a dirty vehicle....
All the big trucks I have driven so far, I have returned in very clean condition... inside....
Said goodbye to "my buddy", the big truck....gave farewells to the folks in my company.... And hit the road at 5 am on Wednesday....
Even though I was very sad for leaving the big truck (my home)... I was eager to make this huge and super tiresome trip to see my beloved dad.... and as Mr. @tucker wrote some days ago... "I would not regret it...."Al. Roper, OLDSKOOLERnWV, exhausted379 and 8 others Thank this. -
I bet there will be a truck waiting for you when you get back,. Just enjoy what time you have left with your dad, i'll bet he is some kind of glad to see you, even if he can't really let you know.
My youngest sister is dieing, I have not talked to her since the day the doctors told her and she called, until today. I feel bad and just hate it that I don't know what to say. We finally had a long talk today and I will keep in better touch, it felt good.OLDSKOOLERnWV, G13Tomcat, MagnumaMoose and 3 others Thank this. -
Drove straight to TN... stopped only once for fuel.... checked into my regular hotel and moved everything to the storage and to the hotel.... for these last days I have been sleeping not much at all... and moving stuff, running errands non- stop, making arrangements and preparations not only for this trip and my long stay in Brasil but also for the things I left in the US among other things....
My storage looks fuller and fuller everytime I come back from the big truck....I know I should get rid and sell a lot of stuff... but being on the road the whole time makes it impossible...
Left the US on Monday... took a shuttle to Atlanta International.... going thru traffic on I-75 & I-85 on a rainy day...
Plane took off at 21:40 local time...
My seat really suck.... couldn't be worse... So, I moved to another one not so bad... but still....
8 hrs from Atlanta to São Paulo, Brasil.... in a very tight plane.... couldn't sleep... I can never sleep in that plane...

Couldn't sleep but had 3 meals.... first one (no picture) was the vegetarian meal I requested... and it was AWFUL....
very very little and stuff full of chemicals...
So... when they passed again with the regular meal I asked the pasta meal and the salad meal... they gave me both...
They weren't too bad...

But if I decide to go back to my company, I will have to (at least) try that.... Shall see... They want me back so bad... Vice president talked to me, director of operations, dispatchers... mechanics... everybody.... and they said that even if it takes more than 12 weeks (FMLA), they will continue paying me from where they left off.. I will not lose my seniority... which is GREAT!
