    Yes they are.

I even had trouble with a simple bearcat. Listening to Memphis Center herd Fedex planes racing a oncoming tornado outbreak. That same bearcat could handle anything else not encrypted or tactical police etc.

If course it does. Dot can check required equipment. Beyond that it's no different than being in your personal car.

That's not true. Overdrive did an article at least 10 years ago. Lawyers & cops agree, they need a warrant for a real search of the truck without probable cause. I, for years, thought commercial vehicle = cops can search. Anything they can see in plain sight can get you in trouble, but unless you consent what they can search is very limited.

I’m sure you just stated that wrong. PC is necessary to get a warrant.

I got stopped in Virginia some yrs back. He accused me of having a detector. Wanted to search the truck. I said with a warrent you can. He tried to scare me with arrest and lying to an officer. I said go for it. 2 minutes later I was Cruzin down the road.

Some states they are legal others are not. I used to have one when I was younger and dumber it was legal in pa tho. Saved me a couple times other times it didn’t even work things are a waste of money not all cops use the radar gun they are onto radar detectors and have other ways to get you. Personally I just say install speed cameras on the highway like they have in Europe. You speed you get a ticket straight to your mailbox simple and then cops don’t have to sit there and wait it’s all automatic. I don’t speed tho because I’m a law abiding citizen.... finally. Took a few years but I got there. Still paying for my mistakes tho:(

FMCSA final ruling considers having one of those on board to be an admission of guilt. I'm no lawyer, but imo you might be a bit SOL on this one
