An across the board raise? Not in the last 2 years. I’m thinking we are due though. I do get a penny raise every year on my anniversary date though. And for whatever reason, when we got bought out they doubled our bonuses. Plus we get a yearly bonus paid the first pay check in December for all miles run from the first of the year. I’m a firm believer, there’s much more to a company then CPM. My last 4 years of pay, averaged out to just over 80K, I did train a little, but all in all, I’m real happy here, and the biggest selling point? I go home every 2-3 weeks for a minimum of 5 days. Is there better companies? I’m quite sure. But for what I have, need or want, I have right here. 2 more years and it’s retirement time. I’d be a complete fool to give this up to strictly chase CPM.Suspect Zero, MACK E-6, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this.

“Better companies” is a matter of opinion.
FlaSwampRat, Suspect Zero and JohnBoy Thank this. -
True. As you've read in my thread, we have a fair share of bull too. Just depends on region, your personal financial situation, & freight volume.FlaSwampRat, mjd4277, 88 Alpha and 1 other person Thank this.

Millis being bought by Heartland just before I leave for CDL School. Is this something that I should consider to be a good or a bad sign? It certainly leaves questions in my mind. Surprisingly, I have read and viewed very little in the way of negative information on Millis Transfer.
Drivers seem to like this company. One of the reasons that Heartland cited for buying the company was its, unheard of in the industry, 50% driver turnover rate. The turnover for the entire industry is 78% with many large carriers exceeding 100% driver turnover. That's really scary.SHOJim and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Get your 1 year and go to Old Dominion.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Thanks for the suggestion. Old Dominion has several terminals around me. They may be a good fit, at a later date. With Millis (and some others) a driver could just pay off the balance owed if he/she decided to leave prior to one year. Millis actually offers a no commitment price on their website.

Passed one of those poster size ads for Heartland hanging in the truck stop
the other day and was thinking about this Millis deal ...it was stating HL pay
is something like 56 cpm and have a built in raise of .05 cpm every year
It can't be all bad

The Millis Terminal is 100 miles from my house and I see their trucks running through little old Shady Dale (hwy 142 and hwy 83) every day. There's even one that sometimes parks his/her truck at the crossroads some weekends.

Tell old sheep herder G he's do for the short straw on herd inventory. And I owe him a bottle of bourbon. RatchetJaw from the trainer Bigtime "Jay-Lo".
All seriousness LAD, shut your mouth and open your ears in school. Lots to divulge in very little time, and if that slack mouth of old G's is moving - it might sound like a 'good ol' story' - but there's 99.99999% chance he's telling you something to underline the risk/exposure at hand. Top notch instructor.Midlife Trucker Thanks this.
