Went to church this morning (one of the great benefits about the new local gig). Kept my left hand against my chest the entire time. It feels ok like that. I've figured out if I let it get below heart level or stretch out my arm, it feels like the skin around the nub is drawing up.

I think it will eventually hurt as what's left of the nail falls off or gets hung on the gauze. :mhissyfit::biggrin_2553:

It may be possible to relieve the pressure by having a vascular surgeon reroute or snip the blood vessal imposing pressure against that stub. Just a thought.

    88 Alpha Thanks this.

Just saw this thread, great thread btw.

You know your weakness and deal with it from what I'm reading. That makes you safer than a lot of drivers. No point repeating all the good advice you got here but I will say to take up @Dave_in_AZ on his generous offer.

And pay attention to what Bud A said. Soon your backing jitters will ease and your confidence will grow. Guard against getting too confident.

Well, friend, this is timely advice for me. Tomorrow I turn in my truck at this job, and a week from tomorrow I start orientation for a Walmart dedicated run. I've never pulled a box, and these trailers have roll-up doors. No offense, but I'm going to learn from your mistake. Thanks for figuring out the answer for me.

Now, if someone can help me figure out why I took a job that will certainly mean I will be chaining up a lot this winter, I'd appreciate it. The DC is in Cheyenne; I'll be running mostly Wyoming and Colorado, with some Montana, Utah, and New Mexico thrown in for fun. Hopefully I won't come back here with my own cautionary tale about figuring out when to shut it down because of wind or ice or snow.
