Just start a fleet with either carrier. You will find out fast.

There was a time, it seems long ago now, that drivers socialized with each other, especially true of flatbedders and garbage haulers, and back in those days it was easy enough to get a landstar oo to let you look at his load boards, and even get loads off of them, when you needed one. But it sounds like that type of stuff has gone away for a while anyway.FlaSwampRat, D.Tibbitt, Wespipes and 1 other person Thank this.

If I wasn't making an emergency run for a bathroom at 3:AM this morning after being woken from a sound sleep by a lousy meal, I would have stopped this guy at the fuel pumps and asked him for load board tips.
I kid you not, there was a Muslim guy washing his entire tractor with the window brush. He had the little traditional white cap on, what looked like a white woman's bath robe that was very short, and as he leaned up to reach the high spots, his bare ### was in full view, AND he was in woman's white fuzzy slippers. Now I'm not picking on him because of his religion, but even in my altered sleep deprived and emergency bathroom state of mind, I busted up laughing when I looked at the guys in the trucks on either side of him laughing hysterically at the site of this guy prancing around. Then after I go and finish my business inside, I come out of the stall and the same guy is washing his feet in the bathroom sink. You just can't make this crap up.Midwest Trucker, LoSt_AgAiN, FlaSwampRat and 5 others Thank this. -
Dont worry, he holds out for good freight rates. Anything under $2.25 a mile would be an embarrasment.

It's no secret you can go faster down hill.
FlaSwampRat and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
It’s not that simple. Flat, Van, Reefer?
Your trailer, their trailer?
Region?
If you’re thinking about financing a truck, and jumping in using a LS van - @65%, I wouldn’t.
$3/mile on the board is $1.95 loaded to the truck. Then throw in dead head.
And wait - $3/mile van freight isn’t exactly flooding the board right now.Oxbow, Wespipes and exhausted379 Thank this. -
You’re pretty close on both, having known firsthand numbers from both.
The Schneider guy was $1.20 ish from memory.Oxbow and Intothesunset Thank this. -
Van freight is for wannabe truckers, go open deck and work your way up.
Don’t expect to start at the top.blairandgretchen, Oxbow and starmac Thank this. -
