    Are the o/o's being picky.

Or do they just know where not to go?

There is a company out of Wisconsin that pulls Leonard's trailers called Double J, but their trucks are dark maroon. They occasionally advertise in my area.

Leonard's also has been posting the occasional ad down there as well, but don't pay company drivers as good as Double J does so being an outside carrier for them seems to be the better option it would seem.

That can definitely happen. I think it depends a lot on how the company is set up. Do they have more O/O or more company trucks? Do the O/O have access to a load board? If the company has fewer trucks than leased trucks they probably attempt to keep the leased on guys happy since they are a bigger revenue generator. Also, if they have access to a load board, the company trucks are probably just being used to cover the freight no one else wants.

My wife’s Cousin and her husband both work at the Farmington terminal, she is in administration and he is the head of truck maintenance. (big burly guy named Kevin) They speak highly of the company, but don’t know much else about leasing on to them. I believe they also have a yard in NC, wish y’all the best.

The place I run for is about 1/4 company trucks and the rest owner operator. The company drivers get paid a weekly minimum and they get all the crap loads. The short loads that eat up most of the day, or the places that take 6 hours to unload. I don’t know what they get for detention pay but they seem happier running 1800 miles a week and getting detention pay than actually driving the minimum miles they’re paid for. The rest of us get the good long runs that pay great. So we’re all happy.

But I’m sure there are plenty of places that load their own trucks first.

Keep hoping I'll eventually find the right fit like you did at FCC. I'd love to be able to run like they support you to do.

I hope all works out for the both of you. A true friend sticking by someone when it gets dark in life. I'm glad to hear that.

Your boss is in a tuff spot. With only 3 trucks it's difficult to offer a bigger company a lot of service. I've hauled loads for Leonards back when I was a carrier and they were fine no troubles at all. I find your spot to be good if your like me , old and in the way and just need to keep busy so you don't balloon up to 300 pounds. But as far as staying busy to earn top dollar I think you may find it tuff.

They have terminals in NY, WI, and NC. I went to their trucking school and also worked their frieght as an O\O out of NY. They are an honest company and treat you decent, but your not going to make alot of $$ with them. Enough to pay your bills not much more. They used to have a warehouse in NY where there was decent multistop frieght, but they shut down the warehouse. I cant speak of the NC and WI terminals. Their NY location has a good truck/trailer shop. Since your a company driver you should be ok and stay busy. They do long run reefer out of NY with dry van mixed in. They have plenty of frieght but they just dont pay the best. They pay their local NY drivers 17.50 Hour and OTR like .44 CPM. Too low.

runningman0661- Kevin is a good guy/mechanic and his guys did alot of work on my truck.
