I did a pretrip and it failed on test#2 it threw an alarm code "P144 check ul1 circuit". The reefer cools perfectly with no issues, what exactly does this code mean? :dontknow:

Sheesh just so happens to be while I'm under a load on a weekend, the reefer is still running fine, I'm delivering the load to Ft Lauderdale FL Monday, I'll have it looked at then, hopefully it dont shut down on me

Don't worry about it.One of the unloader coils on the compressor isn't working. It just a fuel saving device that does little except to panic people. When you have free time stop by carrier and buy a coil and fix it yourself.

Hey I'm gonna be replacing the unloaded coils this weekend, I've never replaced it myself b4, is it a pressurized system where I have to take it to carrier and have them depressurize it? Btw are the unloaded coils ur talking about on each heads of the compressor? I just noticed a compressor oil leak on bottom of the compressor too.

This is remaned compressor which got installed early 2013, I'm pretty sure it has well over 11k hrs, is it time to replace since its leaking oil? Thanks Screenshot_20191024-203735_Video Player.jpg Screenshot_20191024-203656_Video Player.jpg 20191024_203932.jpg

Yeah those are the unloaders, but you are just changing the electric coils. You can see how they just push on to the valve stems. They sometimes get seized onto the stem.Moved them back and forth and see if they are loose,if not spray some penetrating oil on them and try to free them up,then gently pry them up with a screw driver. If they won't come off you can cut them off but you have to be careful not to hit the valve stem with your cutting wheel as this would cause a freon leak. You can also just leave them as they are a fuel saving device only and do not affect the cooling or heating of the reefer. The older carrier compressors didn't even have them. The compressor oil you are seeing is probably overflowing out of the oil reservoir container. The shaft seal on the compressor is lubricated by the oil so you lose a certain amount over time which is normal. You can remove the container and empty it out by taking out the bolt in bottom of it.You can see it in the picture. The oil level in the sight glass is still ok,just make sure your freon level is good.I would never replace the compressor until you have a problem with it,the oil in the sight glass is clear which is a good sign.If it starts turning grey or black then get er checked. You're much more likely to have problems with the valve plates and head gaskets on these compressors which isn't to bad to fix.

I did a pretrip on my unit today and it failed on test 2 as well. It had the p144 code but it also had a p151 code for the glow plug circuit. Does anyone know how to fix this.

Check if you have power at the glow plugs. If you do then it's probably a bad plug(open circuit). If you don't then check for blown fuse in the control box.If that's the case then you may have a shorted plug.
