First and foremost what did you start off doing as a rookie. How much did you make by your third year came around. And how much do you think someone in their third year should be making. Someone wit a clean record
How much were you making after your third year of trucking

FlaSwampRat and DAX_ Thank this. -
All companies I call want 2yrs experience for more than I'm making now. It's like being an apprentice all over again.
GhentSaintPeters, D.Tibbitt, DAX_ and 1 other person Thank this. -
By my third year I was top rate which was $26.50/hr at the time (2001). I was making around 85k in the early years.

Started 2004. Reefer .D&D Sexton. 30cpm
Third year was a 2nd company, Freymiller - at .40cpm
Fourth year teaming doubles at ODFL with wife at 60cpm. 2008. Good year to be locked into a good LTL outfit for 7 years.
Left there 2015 at 70cpm.
Hope this helps.GhentSaintPeters and dwells40 Thank this. -
Started 0.40 per mile, zip to zip all miles. I think I am still at only 0.41 now still.
But I am still with my starter company. I have been giving my next move a lot of thought. In my opinion, there would be a balance between good pay and what you like doing. So what kind of driving do you like and compare it with pay.
I really want to drive solo, but also team driving checks are kind of addicting once you get to used to receiving them.
I could drive for R&L Carriers team line haul and make 80-120k a year. But I don't have my own truck. So I need to think about how important it is to have my own truck vs making 2k-2400 a week.GhentSaintPeters Thanks this. -
Started at 18 an hour, make 33 now four years later. Next year will be 34.75.
with unemployment and some side jobs this winter I’ll be at 80k or so. Could make more but I don’t like working 50+ hours.
first year I make like 30k or something.GhentSaintPeters, BigDog Trucker and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
i started with cr.england at .23cents a mile.
GhentSaintPeters and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
First yr. 1992, $36,000 @ $8.00 an hr. Lots of O.T. Had quit a job Driving straight Truck. at 8.75 hr, no O.T.Annual Pay basically doubled.( At that time, Teamsters Master Freight top pay was $16.00+ per hr. Non Union Overnite, paid $11.00 hr. All straight time.) 2 yrs later, 1994, $14.92-$15.34 as a Casual, Teamster Master Freight Contract. Worked 60 hrs every week, $1000 per week, it was good money at the time. 1996 bought a Truck. Since then, I have no idea what I make. Lol
