Its clear the forum sides with the media on this,no possible way a 4 wheeler got its "stupid ticket" punched
Thats a Save On* day cab which "might" run 65 mph on a good day with a tail wind. The "posted" Speed Limit far exceeds the limits of those trucks.
I run that way regularly and walk by all of them doing 70.
If your a 4 wheeler coming out of the break down lane into the path of an 18 thats running 65 mph your day just went to $**t
The Driver needs all the Support he can get at this time, put your judgmental self in his position right now.
He'll likely be freed on all charges but never the burden.![]()

It should be noted the driver struck vehicles that were stopped due to an earlier accident and not a vehicle that had just exited the shoulder. I have been reading lots of comments from people on the various articles about this wreck. It seems to me that very few are anti truck, they just wish that some truck drivers would operate with a little more attention. I know....the pot calling the kettle but this accident drives that point home. As does the many people that have scattered themselves in various places everyday while not paying attention in their cars. The bottom line is, had a car killed 8 people it would have made national news as well.

Ive seen them broke down in the right lane with another car behind them, completely stopped. No flashers,no warning what so ever.
I'll still pull for the Driver until otherwise proven. -
Regarding above.
I have written comments to the newspaper, regarding their statements about the accident ratio AWG has. They make it sound like 20 accidents in the last 2 weeks, but fail to report that every little thing is reported. The news always try to swing things to the worst side, rather than simply reporting the facts. -
I actualy drove past that accident that day. In 10 years that was probably the worse won i've seen. Im sure they blamin the trucker but I bet it was the four wheeler. 4 wheelers drive crazy on that road and have no respect for the trucks. I bet though truck speed gets reduced eventualy on the pike.

I think driving while on the phone or texting should be against the law. I cannot tell you how many people I see everyday M-F on my commute to work. I work in OKC on a service road on I-35 and it pisses me off when I get behind some jack*** on their phone driving under the speed limit in the FAST lane. Truck drivers also drive while talking on their cell phone also . At least from what I see the truckers on phone stay in the slow lane at a slower speed. My husband is a trucker and I bought him a headset for his phone which he does not use but we limit our talking unless it is a emergency until he is stopped.
On the wreck what could have happened is that the driver came up on the cars which may have not been completely stopped but just coasting at which then the brake lights are not lit up and it was on a steep embankment.
This happens almost daily on I-40 I run into slow traffic which everyone is just coasting about 5mph and you turn around a corner going 70 to 75 and then the potential is there.michaeljcheaney Thanks this. -
You should also eliminate the use of the radio. Distraction changing the settings or channels.
While you are at it, CD's changing tracks.
How about other distractions. Such as makeup.michaeljcheaney Thanks this. -

Thanks for the update. still dont know the cause of this. from the article it sounds like he was asleep. Cruise was on at 71 mph, no turn signal when changed lanes and no brake lights/no attempt to slow or stop and on the road for ten hours. Probably dozed off. The fact that he has to live with part in that tradgedy is Punishment in its self.
