19 days til a year.. one of the things I’ve learned this year is that Otr isn’t for me. It’s not that I can’t do it but it really affected the family. I’m putting in for local now

Corrigan oil , crystal flash, questliner/foodliner, jacobus( not really into them after talking to dm), cassens(would want to learn car hauling if not tanker), atlas oil , marathon petroleum, Sysco/ sygma, a couple others. Had phone interviews with all and got atleast 3 meetings scheduled for this coming Monday. The manager for questliner met me out in Joliet the other day

Sysco was the most brutal, unforgiving job I’ve ever had. Lasted 3 months and I am very in shape. For myself, it was twice as intense as Basic Training, 120%! That job will rip you up and spit you out lol. Most of the long term drivers there walk around like hobbits because of all the injuries. Just putting it out there for you, even though you’ll be “local,” you’ll never be home.baha and meechyaboy Thank this.

Why car hauling in particular?

If I was to go away from tanker that or flatbed would be the way I’d go, just to learn another specialty in trucking that and possibly hauling some cool cars

Currently stuck on a terrible load.. waiting for them to load it so I can get some miles out of the way but lately I’ve been getting these runs that’s spread really far apart. For example it’s 2200 now I still have to hookup check call pretrip once it’s loaded. First compartment delivers before 1500 tomorrow 300+ miles away in Iowa( I mean a cornfield) then another hundred miles for comp 2 whenever I get there. Now compartment 3 has a time of 0001-0400...like why and it’s the type of place that’s a stickler for only taking in the window cause they only have 1 guy trained to stand there and do nothing while I unload. So all things considered if they don’t load soon enough. I may not make that first window or I may not be able to deliver the last and have enough time to get out and find somewhere to park especially in Iowa. This situation happened to me last week and I spent a whole 12 hours at a truck stop cause it took them an hour and a half to get money on fuel card and had to wait till night to hit the window again. Definitely not parking at a customer after Chicago so we’ll see
