I have the Coleman like a lot of others do.
I have had it for a month and already noticed it isn’t cooling as well.
Has anyone used the Alpicool cx40 or any size by that company?
Any other compressor brands that’s good for long term use?
I don’t care to pay for quality, so I don’t care about cost. Plus I can use it on vacation etc.

    Edit:
I drive a 19 t680 any info on power usage if you own one would help.

I used to get at least a year or so out of the cheap 12V coolers. then use my points to get another cheap.

you have to keep the fan area clear of dust. canned air works good.

ENGEL has freeze capability too, it’s a must for those wanting to effectively control diet and cost on the road.

We ate salads 4 nights a week, and with a lunch box cooker, pasta and chicken dishes.

Ate out 2 times a week teaming 6200 miles in 5 days, for $100 at the grocery store and $60 at the restaurant.

Coffee maker for shift change, maximize work time, limit costs and associated delays with unnecessary stops.

I bought the Dometic 40 QT for maybe $700. I had intended to replace my thermoelectric Coleman or Igloo 40 Qt cooler. I returned it the same day I received it. I have no doubt the Dometic compressor refrigerator/freezer would be much more effective at keeping food cold than my thermoelectric cooler. However, the Dometic unit weighed 50 pounds when empty. There is no way I was going to drag that hulk into and out of the truck, up over the driver seat every 4-6 days when I go home. Also, the shape/size of the cold compartment was tall and narrow, maybe 1/3 of the practical storage area of the 12v cooler. The main compartment was a little bigger than a shoe box standing on its narrow end. That's means stacking drinks/food when means too much trouble. At $700 it was too expensive to leave in the truck and not be stolen by mechanics. And the first words the boss would say after it was stolen would be "you should leave anything worth stealing in the truck when you go home."

The compressor units draw a very small amount of current compared to the Coleman/Igloo units. My current 12v cooler draws a little under 10A for mediocre cooling. The compressor units use 1-3 amps for VERY cold performance. If you get one, I'd get a dorm fridge format type of unit that you mount in the truck, not a cooler format unit.
