Hahahaha! That's the best inspection story I've ever heard. I think I'm going to set up some bee hives next to where I park my truck.
Is this in any way illegal?

Carry clear shipping tape. I do for placards. Over 1300 miles with out it thier can be issues.Lepton1, ncmickey and PermanentTourist Thank this.

my experience doing that with placards is this: the front and sides will be the only ones in question. if you’re using the laminated placards 9/10 times they will all be fine. ive rolled thru several scales like that.

So after concluding the experiment the final results are... disappointing.
In Wyoming, the wind managed to steal the laminated clear shield from under the clips. Good thing i caught it before the actual placard was gone too. Stuck it on the side, as per normal precedure, since it wasn't wet anymore. The one on the rear of the trailer made it cross country just fine though.
So in conclusion, my invention is ok short term, but not wyoming-rated.Dan.S, Lepton1, MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Pick up a can of super 77 3m spray adhesive
3M 16.75 oz. Super 77 Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive-77-24 - The Home Depot
Doubt they would come off if you dry off the surface first then spray a bit of that. Spray some on the placard then let it tack up for a minute or so slap it on and you'll need a scrapper blade to get it off lolstillwurkin Thanks this. -

Hey bringing back the discussions. Last night leaving the yard in IL, I used rectangle placards (orange background with black UN number), they never behaved more than 20 miles, winter disguised as fall tear them down, since ESTES don’t encourage you to stick the rectangles on the white-plain back side of a diamond shaped placard so that way both can be confined on the holders and the DOT enforce that any placards being showed should be clear, on sight and clean and by doing it the way before mentioned the four corners of the rectangle need be bent and it don’t look DOT friendly neither, no matter how much science and dedication was applied. I did for about 280mi, trick worked but I don’t feel confident pushing luck. In concrete, is OK or someone else has successfully pass DOT inspection using magnets (along the extension of four sides I guess is safer) in order to get to the destination crossing thru winter, rain weather??
