In the last month or so how have your miles been ? I only ask cause I am getting ready to go to orientation as soon as a spot opens. And in order to make my house payment I'll need to take home at least 600.00 to 700.00 a week. Is that pushing it ? Also what is training pay like 350.00
    a week?

    thanks and be safe.

Whisky if you think you will be rolling in the $$ as a new driver you might want to reevaluate your choice. On a GOOD week I might clear 550, this is not counting my eating on the road. I average maybe 1800-2200 a miles a week, but I have had weeks as low as 1200 miles.

Your miles ran will depend on the frieght you're hauling, your dispather, your fleet manager, you, and the area you are in/what is available. I have been fortunate these last 2 weeks and both of my checks were over the 600 mark, but this is by no means my average. Your training pay will also depend on your company.

Whisky I can't voice an opinion on how things will be with USA, but I know pulling reefer frieght (as well as dry van) I have weeks like the last couple that are great. I also have weeks that I am thankful I have so few bills, and am slowly working my way completely out of debt. If I had a family, house, and utilities to pay I don't think I would be in this gae (I would probably have stayed working for the state as a correctional officer). The key is to remember when you do have a VERY good week not to get over excited thinking those will remain, play smart with your money and when you have a surplud put it back for the rainy days.

Best of luck with your new career.

Your weeks will probably fluctuate. If you get into the NE plan for the worst and hope for the best. You'll be losing 25 bucks take home pay for 20 weeks for your truck recovery escrow. If you're drivers solutions then that's another 45 you won't be getting for a year. I've grossed over a grand before but that doesn't mean much. Good luck.

That will vary on driver and company. Will also depend on stick time and freight. I averaged to the house after taxes between 800-1200 a week and was home almost every weekend. Then I started getting hung out 3 weeks at a time and taking home 600-800 a week. A week in this job you might as well plan on running 70 hours. I know new guys that was taking home 600- 700 a week when we was running hard. When I dropped I am sure they dropped as well.

i hate to tell ya whisky but you'll have a hard time making that kind of money right now. when i started last year that was the norm. you would get 3000+ miles every week unless you went home. this year with freight the way is i'm getting between 2000 and 3000 for a full week and under 2000 when i go home. to make $600 take home you would have to drive over 2700 miles a week.

I have a good fleet manager but still have a hard time getting over 2200 miles a week. I have been averaging 2200 miles. you'll make 350 a week during training. 50.00 a day. I budget on 500 per week. That's about what I get if you average it out. There are good weeks and there are bad weeks. Just try to budget for the month and if you have extra come in, save it for when you don't have enough come in. Anything over 500, I save cause I KNOW i'll have less than 500 come in many weeks. Hope this helps. If you get stuck in Illinios, Indiana, Ohio or PA, you'll have to wait to get a load because we were heavily invested in the manufacturing shippers there that have gone out of business. My fleet manager is pretty good at getting me OUT of the northwest when I'm sent into the NW. Not all fleet managers are though... Good luck. Hang in there... I think the economy will be picking up soon...
