After having been harrassed and coerced over the last week, I've finally had enough. The only equipment they maintain is the small number of Freightliners and their pocketbooks. The Internationals and Volvos are left to fall apart. Trailers are almost universally subject to OOS orders if an LEO inspects them.

Forced per diem is literally half your income, and they'll schedule loads on you in just the right way to only see 1000 miles a week. Current van pay is about 30 cpm INCLUDING PER DIEM.

If you get sick, too bad. Enforcing FMCSR 392.3 gets you written up. Addressing my concerns via Qualcomm got me called into the TM's office for disciplinary action. I just quit on the spot... unemployment won't be worth the effort, and I've had companies tell me they'd rather see a resignation than a termination anyway, so job hunting will be easier this time. I'll be filing my OSHA and DOT complaints when I return home, as well.

Don't consider this outfit. At all. There are better options out there.

Honestly, I don't know. I'm half considering flatbed, but every company I've seen is willing to show a new flatbedder the ropes as long as you bring driving experience to the equation. I might go reefers full time... that was a fun stint at Swift. I don't know where I'm going or what I'm doing, but I do know that it's not dry van at WE

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Western is a toilet drinker . I'm doing long haul reefer and love it but flatbed is much more paced of a lifestyle . You get 34 hour resets because customers work banker hours .

Wasn't Swift because you drove too close to somebody?

C/mon,Lets get it together...........Relax,Just do what your told,Dont complain..And Maybe,Just maybe, Things will get better.

Roehl is flatbed, looking for drivers. I know nothing about the company. I enjoyed doing flat and stepdeck as an owner operator(meaning my truck and trailer.)

IDK, man. I just know that I got sick, parked the truck when I got to the point that I couldn't keep it between the lines, and then the constant phone calls and QC messages started. Told them repeatedly I was too sick to drive, no dice. Once I was back in good enough shape, the truck ran like normal (10 on, 10 off) again. Got called into the boss man's office over the amount of time the truck didn't move while I was sick, and I cited the Trucker's Bible. Big hoss started giving me flak, so I quit.

I'll do quite a number of things without complaint, but drive illegally/unsafely is not one of them. Might have just been my DM and TM, for all I know, but from my perspective... not worth my PSP, DAC, etc. if anything happens, IMO.

That said, you're right. Things can only go up from here. I've learned what not fully doing my homework and accepting the first offer that comes my way does for me... which is to say, nothing good

Because WHEN the good things happen, I'm too busy enjoying them to post anything. Just like anyone else. Venting about the bad and silently enjoying the respite that's brought by the good is just human nature from what I've seen
