The new Freightliner I drive, has the DDT 12 automatic transmission, and only economy mode is activated.
Performance mode, and manual mode, is not available. If you try to come off a hill with the jake brake, it will automatically downshift at least 2 gears, and over rev the engine to 2300 to 2500 RPM's
You cannot select and hold a gear, because manual mode is not available.
Are they planning on turning on the features of these transmissions? I don't think they will be safe in the winter, being unable to select and hold a gear.
Anybody know anything? This is ridiculous!

My Volvo has a 3 position stalk and an aggressive pull down that will trip it up to 2000 rpm. Sure you have the settings right?

1st it's not a automatic.... it's an autoSHIFT…..
""Are they planning on turning on the features of these transmissions"" ask your company because it up to them....
as to over rev the engine have you looked at the engine plate to see what the max rev is...truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
2500 RPMs!!
truckdriver31 and Rocks Thank this. -
Your company chose the transmission parameters. If it revs to 2500 or 4500, if that's the way they have it set up, there's not much you can do about except move on.

So when the rods come through the block followed by the crankshaft etc before the bottom? Serves them right I say... Wally is rich enough to replace it.
If it upsets you too much, find a different job. It might be better. No good to be a mad angry trucker trapped in a HAL induced tractor from the future that wont let you drive it properly.
Ive had trucks in the past the old iron that would turn over at 3 grand on the beltway for DC and virginia. So its not a problem for the engine until it fails. Thats the company's oversight. I do care for the equiptment. But I have gotten hardened to the stupid mistakes by corporate that leads to failures, explosions or whatever. Its not my fault.foggy, truckdriver31, EuropeanTrucker and 3 others Thank this. -
