I had the GT model 89 year. Brand new with the 1.6 and manual 5 speed. 10.4 gallon tank, 45 mpg and 1.10 gas in those days. Top speed routinely exceeded 135. I would be on 95 with a row of muscle cars on my butt at 127 to 133 or so southbound. The usual collection. I was on my top end in those days some of those cars like the charger had some more top end and would play with me passing. 135 mph speedo I guess top speed if you have a few miles of flat would be around 139 with the AC off and redlined each gear.
Had that car for years. Ran the hell out of it. Raced it too. The biggest thing it could do was stick for a small car. wider than most. Friend of mine says please oh god do the speed limit for a while willya?
20 mph bend coming up around the perimeter of airport. took it at 65 without squealing or drama. Just a little power on the way out in second.
The one flaw? The tires. They were good but not that good. ate them up constantly. And hydroplaned in rain so I was always replacing them. Then again I would have had to replace them constantly anyway. Those tires were not that good. did I repeat myself again? Im a telling you.
We had one at the auction house back in the 2000's the only one ever. The dealers went crazy on it But it had about 650,000 on it so 2000 dollars sold.
I hope whoever bought it would like it. I know I enjoyed taking that one to the barn. Memory lane. However I was over those little things already. It;s the Mini cooper GT equivilants that I enjoyed more. Or the small Audis then coming out of Germany as imports.RidgeRunner731, FerrissWheel, WesternPlains and 2 others Thank this. -
That is SOOOO CUTE! That's a tree ornament...? Interesting...

My former company gave us little company trucks like that but they are not tree ornaments.... I like to play with them....
FerrissWheel, kemosabi49, WesternPlains and 1 other person Thank this. -
What's fascinating about the times we live in now is you need to be 14 years old to play with it.
I shot my first scoped rifle at the ripe old age of 2.
I was given a scoped Model 70 Winchester 30-06 for Christmas when I was 10.
40 years ago, it was safe for a 10 year old to handle a high powered rifle. Now...………..a 13 year old can't be trusted with a toy truck.RidgeRunner731, FerrissWheel, x1Heavy and 5 others Thank this. -
It’s not a toy! Its a dangerous weapon of serious destruction.. not quite of the mass department, first, its probably got something sharp to hang on tree.
But wait until the kids leave it on the floor and you step on it in the dark!RidgeRunner731, FerrissWheel, x1Heavy and 4 others Thank this. -
Uh-oh, its snowing in Richmond, Indiana! What do we do?! I know! I’ll pull the curtains, that’ll keep it back?
